I have a set of LED that i have mounted in my woofer setup and was wondering how much power is put through the remote line that turns the subwoofer on and off..
if its 12v or so I could use that to power the LED as well as keeping the amp on..
anyone have any idea?

i last read the spec of a sony xplod cd/mp3/usb player.. and i remember seeing 300mA max on the amp remote wire. (obviously at 12v though... the amp needs +12V to turn on)

u can run a few leds but not much more than that or you could overdraw the remote output of the deck.

you can actually run up to 6 leds cause when the car is at rest it sits at 12v but once the car is started and the alt is running it actually goes to 14.4v

don't use a power turn on wire from a deck to turn on neons... if you blow that its a PITA to get amps to turn on.
Use a relay.. they cost $4 at an auto parts store and when hooked up right can handle like 30amps versus .3amps.

or instead of running a relay you can drop a new line off the positive side of the cig lighter or and you can hook it up to a switch and i would like to mention you dont need a whole lot to power an led so a 30 amp relay is not nec they require aroung 1-3 volts so its not a whole lot and if you can drop two amps onto on single amp turn on you can wire up alot to it

the camera doesnt do it justice.. the whole middle lights up so you see the toyota emblem :)
I might put it inline with the amp power with a switch.. but the idea of it automatically coming on with the amp is nice
