checking quotes at allstate, they have some good deals....but i have a question....i'm at least getting on with accident forgiveness (standard policy-$851), but what about getting the gold package (new car expanded coverage, accident forgiveness, deductible awards-$907) or platinum package (same as gold with safe driving bonus check-$971)

I had Allstate for a long time. I will just say this, Don't ever make a claim on them.
I had my truck stolen and it was a total nightmare. Took me 7 months to get a check.
They paid me $2000.00 less than what I owed. I still owed money on a truck I didn't have.

I have had State Farm for over 30 years. Never any complaints or problems.

Most recently my husband totaled our 1997 Cavalier, fell asleep and ran the car off the road. I was carrying full coverage. It did have low miles, about 65,000 because it was my grandmother's car before we got it from her. They paid me full retail for the car, $3805 and even included an allowance for sales tax and the license plates after the $500 deductible they gave me a check for $3305. I had it less than a week after the accident. This was for a car that was 11 years old. I thought it was more than fair and the accident will only affect the policy for that vehicle not the whole household.

State Farm may not be the cheapest (I have never shopped around), but I have always been happy with their service. The agent and the people in office are always good about trying to get me the best rates (I have a 17 year old daughter) and always call me if a policy gets close to due (we have 5 cars and I can never keep track of what's due when).

I've got Progressive. I've never had an issue, and I can't find anything cheaper.

I filed a claim once on my Subaru STi ($17,500, yeah, really... I busted a subframe off the car, it still didn't get totalled), and they handled it very well. They actually made a mistake and had the car taken to a place I specifically told them not to, but they corrected it AND gave me a free rental to keep me happy.

Ive had them for motorcycle insurance too.

Had (past tense) Allstate for over 25 years and they continued to go up in price and down in service. Dumped them.

I am with SAFECO now and much happier. Running 3 vehicles and 2 have full coverage with low deductables. I am at $1400/year for everything.

looking into safeco, they gave me an extremely low 6 month rate. around $500 bucks to be exact. and all my liabilities are high 100,000/300,000.
bodily injury liability $100,000/300,000
property damage $100,000
uninsured motorist protection $100,000/300,000 w/stacking
underinsured motorist protection $100,000/300,000 w/ stacking
Full Tort
Medical Expense Benefits $25,000

6 month premium $500
thoughts?

also, comprehensive and collision deductibles.......i didnt do that, when i did it went up to 1,000. my question is, if i pick a $250-500 deductible for each, what does that do if i get in a wreck?
it says your insurance rate goes down if you have a deductible. i had no deductible and rate was $500, then i added $500 deductible for both comp and collision and the damn rate went to over $1,000

I just got a quote from safeco out of curiosity and it was $1400/6 months (if I pay it all at once, which we usually do), it's still $300 more than our current rate with USAA, that's with 3 vehicles.

If you have an accident and it is your fault you must pay your own deductable out of pocket for the repair. If you are hit by someone or an uninsured motorist (hit and run in the parking lot) you do not pay a deductable.

100/300 is what I have for liabilty which is much better than the minimums. I just got my 6 month bill $708 which I have to mail in in the morning.

I have had 2 claims with Safco and they were fast at getting things done. I have been very pleased with them.

but wouldnt getting a deductible hurt you more than the insurance? *you pay for those things twice* by your rate doubling and also having to pay the 500 deductible out of pocket when the accident happens?

It pays to shop around. ANPAC is who I use and pay $1,300/year to fully insure 3 cars. The Yaris is $474/year.

i checked all state and safeco, both have low 6 month premiums, then when i recalculate with deductibles they climb $500 go from about $500-600 per 6 months to $1000-1100

Did you check progressive?

You are not mentioning your age or driving record. I'm 50 plus with two vehicles with state farm. I've had state farm for over 30 plus years. My 6 month bill with full coverage and a $500 deductable on collision and 250 on comprehensive is $379 every six months. State Farm has been very fair and good to me and will stay with them for now.

Did you check progressive?

i have progressive, they're most expensive as all. almost 1400 per 6 months. *the monthly insurance payments are 50+ dollars more than my car payment*
also 23/male perfect driving record

the main thing im asking is how the hell does the rate double when you get a deductible, the deductible is a payment hit against the person rather than the company.

By having a $500 deductible, that's the most you are going to pay out of pocket. If you get into an accident and the damages total $5000. You only pay $500 and the ur insurance covers the rest.

Well..... I received a telephone call from my insurance agent yesterday. He asked me if I was interested in saving over $370/year?

I just changed from Safco to Travelers for the same coverage my 6 month premium is now $530 vs the old $708!!!

I have 3 vehicles on the policy...... 2 are full coverage.

This deverved a bump.
