Well I wanted to put in my chrome to amber little bulbs in the side markers. I was able to detach the sidemarker, but i can't manage to pry off the plastic cover from the housing. i tried to use a small swiss army knife flathead screwdriver, but i chipped a piece of the plastic off! ARG...
do i just need to grow my finger nails?!
these are the side markers i'm talking about. i just own the stock ones, this is a pic of aftermarket ones..

you have to cut the "stem" off and you can replace the bulb inside. Then you have to glue it back together.

i know what you mean by the stem. Yah I was lookin at the thing for minutes trying to figuire out a way to "pop" it off. Your way seems like the only way. If you're not pulling me leg...

Nope that seems to be the way.. You need a dremel with a cutoff wheel or a hacksaw.
I read that method on here. Its easy, just a PITA.

Yah seriously. It seems you'd have to operate like a surgeon so you won't cut the bulb or where the bulb connects to the wires. eek. Maybe i'll go for garm's LED sidemarkers. However, those seem a little pricey. They have some knock off LED ones on ebay for like $1.25. haha. Those would probably have everything wrong with them...but you never know!

Peter.... get the led sidemarkers from Garm. I recently installed the smoked led side lights he sells. I even did a DIY on the installation with pics. I just haven't had a chance to repost it after the hack.
You can take alot of time and mod your existing ones or just spend $40 and do a painless replacement. I'll post pics of mine lit up at night when I get home this evening.
Later....
