Once a decade I'll buy something off a TV commercial. I bought some Sham Wow's and used one to wipe the wet car with. They SUCK. They might be good for other things but a regular sham cloth works a lot better. They didn't remove the water completely.

The quality of that product matches the commercial ad for it. Good to know. I just saw a meguire's product similiar to shamwow at riteaid earlier, its probably work the same. :(

Awww, I was actually considering getting this one. They did a great job on their commercial I guess lol.

How about "The Absorber" chamois? Anyone ever use that? I see it at Walmart all the time, but I never got around to buying it...

Are you just using an asborber to get rid of the water? I use a silicon water blade first then an asborber.

+1 Same here. The blade gets rid of 90% of the water.

the guy from the shamwow commercials seems pretty cocky, just my opinion. i have not used the shamwow though, i use the california water blade and the absorber, and i will for life. :)

You can totally see the switch out when the sales guy on the commercial pours the soda on the white rug... there was way more soda than what they went back to..lol

I've had an absorber for probably 12 years now, still works great. If it get too many black steaks on it from the rubber window moldings I just wash it, rinse it really well and stick it back in the tube. I tried the California water blade and it made noise that sounded like dragging your fingernails down a chalkboard, I was so scared it would screw up the paint so I brought it back. I also bought one of the newer towels in the tube called "Aqua-dry" and it's pretty good, I couldn't find my absorber at the time...Has anyone tried the Mr Clean spotless car wash thingy with the filter in it? Does it really work?

I just bought "The Absorber" chamois at an Auto Zone store and i am really impressed!!! It works amazingly!!!!! I am so glad i listened to the store clerk. She recommended this over all the other chamois and towels she had in store.

I also have the SHAM WOW(yeah, i am a sucker too!) and it sucks! It streaks and does not absorb water at all. I used it as soon as i bought it from the store to wipe my car after it had been raining and it was terrible so today after trying "The Absorber" i gave it another shot to compare them but it still sucks!
So.......yeah, definitely get The Absorber!!!

The water softener "filter" works... The soap, not so much...

Don't laugh at this product, it's had a sad ending.
Vince Argee, the ShamWow inventor was killed by an accidental gunshot wound on Jan. 28.
They did a feature on it on NPR TV in Canada, hav'nt seen it elswhere yet.
Someone posted it on you Tube. He leaves behind a Fiancee and 1 son from a previous marriage....:frown:

The Absorber is my bathtowel for those hard-to-reach areas.
But seriously, it's a fantastic "chamois" if you can call it that.

man.. I've heard so many people say they really are amazing. I was playing counter strike the other day and 3 people started talking about how good they are. I guess I'll have to buy some.

I just wish they chose methods of marketing other than infomercials and mall stands. It breaks my logic that everything from an infomercial or at a mall stand will be crap.

I've been using synthetic chamois (made in Germany) for a long time. They are absolutely great for wiping your car dry after a wash.
The more you use it, the better it works.

Costco sells terry cloths for $10 for a pack of 20. They're washable and reusable. I bought three bags two years ago and wash & wax my vehicles twice a year with them. I also bought a 20 pack of micro-fiber cloths which are great for getting the dust off the dash and selected areas...even around the house! At the market there is a shamwow booth, and they manage to sell out every time lol. They make it look a lot easier than it is on TV. If you notice the testimonials on the TV infomercial, the customers haven't even tried them yet - one guy was still holding his bundled up shamwows in his hand! That was a dead giveaway to stay away. If it's too good to be true - it probably is.
