Ok, so I was looking forward to installing my TYC tail lights on my new '09 5-door LB. Got one of the stock lights out and the TYC lights won't work. The tail light connector on the '09 5-door LB is different.
When can we expect to see some new tail lights for the '09 5-door LB?
Same question for fog lights. The fog light shrouds on the '09 non-S LBs is different than the shrouds on previous model year LBs.

can you take a picture of the new stock taillight connectors?

Is the shape of the taillight the same? Many people just wire up aftermarket lights by splicing the wires.
Hey Thomas, I wonder if they adopted the Thai spec for the harnesses? That would rock.

my thoughts exactly... most unlikely though!
But based on pictures, the actual physical shape of the light is the same, just the layout changes

The tail lights are the same shape as the '08 and '07 LBs' tail lights. Connector is different though.
I'll take pics. when I get a chance to.

They are actually a slightly different shape. I believe that they will fit, but the 08 flares out along the hatch and the 09 flares in. In the picture below you can see it. The 08 is on the left and 09 right. The hatch is identical, so you can see how the 08 sticks out a bit from the hatch, but the 09 doesn't. If the 08 light was installed on my 09, it would follow the bumper up the end of the back-up lens, then would stick out over the indent in my 09 bumper by about 1/2" - 3/4".

Is the 08 tail light connector a six pin one row connector as opposed the the U-shaped connector of the 09?
I ran into a pre-hack DIY on installing JDM lights on an 08 (which involved changing the connector on the car from the single row 6 to the U-shaped 6) and the pinout for my 09 is identical to the JDM lights shown in the DIY.

If yours is an '09 5-door LB, then you have the same connector I do for the tail lights.

I meant the connector on the TYCs.

Oh, I don't know about the '08's tail light connector. I had an '07 LB and I know the tail light connector of the '07 LB is different than the '09 5-door LB's tail light connector.
The TYC tail lights I have, have connectors that match the connector on the '07 LB.

That's the one-row six pin connector, right?

I don't know. The TYC tail lights I have are boxed up and in the attic since I cant use them.
There are pics. somewhere here though.

You could either change the male connector on the car (by popping the pins and moving them to the 07-08 style) or change the female connector on the TYC's to the 09 style. Both types use the same pins, so you would not have to cut and splice wires...

I wouldn't mind seeing a DIY about how to remove and and re-install those pins.

I could do that, but I want lights that follow the car's contours and curves. As you mentioned above, they would stick out on that part next to the hatch door that slopes inwards.
