Depending on what tire size you've got you'll have to factor in the speedometer's built-in optimism. On the factory rubber it is usually around 10% off. At 200kph indicated it's probably around 180kph+

Wow.. did you take off the speed governor? Because our cars only go 180km/h max and then the governor kicks in and slows you down.

And if you did take it off... please tell me how to.

ive gotten 118mph numerous times in my 08 yaris hb coming home from NC i hit the goven a few times all its does is cut ur fuel for a few seconds so u slow down... if u stay at redline long enough it does it then to... ive personally done both.... as soon as i get my 15" back on ill use my gps again... see with 17" my speedo said 118.. my gps said 109... so when i get the konigs that i want ill try again

just for the record... i hit 118 in 4th gear...

I just hit about 117-118 mph (about 187km/h). Completely stock 2dr LB. Rolling on stock 15" steelies.

I didn't let off the gas, but at the limit, it felt like the gas pedal let off by itself, or something. I don't have a tach, so I'm not sure if it was fuel cut off, RPM limit, or speed governer???

This car's got a relatively "soft" rev limiter such that it doesn't bounce off the redline like most other cars do when you over-rev it.

ztrack157
11-08-2008, 11:39 PM
Governor on us models clicks in at 118 the gearing on the car suggests 148 mph without it but that is not taking into account the drag on the car pushing 130 would be hard in this car.

My first 3 gears will do 30mph(90mph total) so if i go by that I technically should be able to do 150mph. Haven't taken the car much over 100 yet but on my last car(07 auto) I hit 118 before it just kinda sat there but I didn't top it out. I think you could probably do 130+ if you topped out each gear, however I think you would need more than stock hp or a long highway.

Chongo, you have a very unusual Yaris there. Never heard of one limited at 100. I haven't topped mine out, but pretty sure I was over 100 out near Big Bend in far west Texas last winter.
Also, US Yarii should all have rev limiters. I've hit mine at autox,a nd I can't think of a car made int he last 10 years or so that doesn't have a rev limiter on manual trannys. Its suprising to hear the variety of responses on here about the governor limits and/or rev limiters (and lack thereof). Unusual for toyota.
There cant' be very many of us who've toyed with the ecu, I assume? ( I haven't)

i have never seen above 110 on a race track in this car, it usually runs out of steam or road at about 105 mph.

for reference, i have been to CMP and Roebling Road Raceway. RRR is pretty fast track, but neither can let you "top out" the car.

I got up to 103mph (165.7 km/h) this past Sunday evening, but even that was a feat. I expected for it to be a little easier, to be honest. But I had a custom axleback fabricated yesterday (it looks good), so I'm sure that will help with the high end.

Botchilah, why would you rev that high in 4th gear? Wouldn't that be putting lots of stress on the engine? I didn't even know it was possible to achieve 170km/h in 4th.

El Mirage! I, trying to be a responsible young adult, drove the distance to get to El Mirage. The dry lake bed. NO SPEED LIMIT. Paid my fee to get in. My friend took his EVO X. Just the two of us there! It was pretty cool. I took mine to the max, and had PLENTY of land left. I hit about 115 or so, i forget. In fourth gear. Didn't bother with 5th, as it's speed limited. I will try to find pics and video
