Just curious what kind of pets my fellow Yarisworld members have.
I've got this guy, an 8" Plecostomus, and a few small fish and a bunch of little Yellow Mystery snails.

I'm sorry, man that sucks. Does it ever go away? Any cure?
The genetic disease he has causes the disks in his back to calcify and rupture and the material that ruptures pushes on his spinal cord and causes him to basically lose all function and control of everything below the rupture. He had 3 in his mid back and the second surgery was for 2 more in his lower back and when they did the last cat scan they found 2 more disks of concern in his neck.
We know what the signs are now and it is easily detectable so anymore problems we will be able to spot them early enough before it does any real damage. If you wait to long then it it will cause damage that cannot be fixed. He is doing really well so far but it has only been about 5-6 weeks since the last surgery. This was the same time frame between the 1st and second surgery also.
He was doing good after the first surgery and about 4.5 weeks later he started having the same problems so I took him in immediately.
over 6,000 dollars for the 2 surgeries.

Olive is our three year old blue heeler. When I came home today she was chewing on a leg & hip bone from a dead deer she found somewhere in the woods on our property. She's a "dog" in every sense !! I've also included a picture of her as a three month pup.

I have a 14 inch black veieltail goldfish, 14 inch sarasa comet, 8 inch rare blue oranda, 7 inch rare calico ranchu, 7 inch wakin goldfish, 5 inch rare crown pearlscale goldfish, 2 10 inch golden dojo loaches, bunch of snails and freshwater clams all in a 55 gallon tank.
I have to run 2 canister filters and a emperor 400 to keep the water clean since its clearly overstocked.

pics of my gf's dog Keeara (like tiara cept with a K)
She's about 8 years old and is a Husky/Wolf mix.
GREAT DOG... she's getting old and I will truly miss her when she goes.
These pics were taken in September 08 at Indigo Lake, Oregon. 2.5mile hike to the campsite. Place was awesome. The best weekend I've had in the past 2 years.
Oh yeah... rule when we go camping is that everybody packs in their own food... Even Keeara. She was packing poop bags, 2 Big Nalgene bottles of kibble, plus a small jar of peanut butter which she uses to take her seizure medications.

OK, we have LOTS of pets. Five cats and I am not even sure how many dogs. Here are some of my favorites though.
First are the two keeshonds, Boo Boo on the sofa and Tessa down below. Tessa went to heaven shortly after this photo was taken. She as the greatest dog ever. The Mya the Great Pyrenees as a puppy. She's close to 100 pounds now. Then Jessie the white bulldog and Emo the bulldog, too.

Losing Tessa was definitely one of the most devasting things that has ever happened to me.
The bulldogs don't eat that much. I feed them 3 cups each per day. You do have to use a good quality food though. Lamb and rice, chicken and rice, or catfish and potato. They don't do well with too many fillers, especially corn and soy. Plays havoc with their skin. Some are very sensitive, especially the white ones like Jessie.

I have a 13 year old Rat Terrier, he's starting to really show his age, shakes a lot, moves really slowly. I cry just thinking about not having him anymore because he means so much to me. All I can do is love him and make the most of the time he has left. My heart really goes out to you for losing Tessa. I'm kind of afraid to start over with a new pet, it hurts so much. I'm sorry to bring you down but it really helped to talk to someone who feels the same way, thanks.

I love this thread! I work at a specialty veterinary hospital, so I am obviously an animal lover. I'd have a ton of dogs if my place would allow it, but I got my lil' Chihuahua. He's got a form of secondary epilepsy and he's a bratmonster but he's my love.

I lived with someone a few years back who had eight dogs, two birds and four cats. I'm "petted out" for a long while.
The word was "shit". They generated pounds of it each day.
Guys, if you meet a lady who has lots of pets, take the hint and run like hell!

Yesterday my pup had a seizure:frown:, me and my wife thought she was choking so we hauled ass to the emergency animal hospital. I've never been so scared in my life and I was crying like a bitch:cry:. At first the Dr. thought she might have got poisoned by eating something, but after all of the tests they did they told us that she wasn't poisoned. Apparently she had a petit mal seizure, it wasn't a violent one but it still scared us. Apparently in chihuahua's epilepsy is common. She's fine now and we're glad to have her home.

That's to bad to hear, glad she is okay though. Any medication to prevent?
The vet didn't want to medicate her yet, because he said sometimes dogs can have a seizure and never have one again. If she has another one we'll medicate her.
