I have a couple cases of 10W-30 and 10W-40 (not synthetic) lying around in my garage.
Can I use those for my next oil change? I'm in Hawaii - a warm climate,
that never goes below 60 degrees in the winter. Not looking into buying synthetic either. Any suggestions?

neither of those . Go with 5w-30 for your climate . 5w-30 is more common in stores . The 5w-30 hould be listed in your owners manual and printed on your oil cap .

If your car is still on the warranty, and you care about whether the dealer might screw you because you didn't use the right oil (if something were to happen), then yes, you have to use 5W-30.

If you're not on the warranty, or you don't care, then either of the oils you have will work as long as they're the proper standard ("ILSAC", whatever the hell that is...). But since they're a bit thicker, you might see a small negative effect on your gas mileage. Check your owners manual for the proper grade.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll have to wait for a sale on 5w30 oil.

It all depends on what you will be using the car for. If just daily driven, then 10w30 is ok. I personally love 5w30 in this climate. It's great, i run it in all my cars, and no problems.

If i had a case of new 10-30 oil it would be going in the car on the next oil change.
