Had a spontaneous crash test against a tahoe...
I bent her license plate :smoking:

$10.5k in repairs.. front got some attention too
The tab's not my insurance's problem
.. but my poor yaris is... salvaged :bs:

Rofl. That comment about the bent license plate with the smoking guy. That made me LOL IRL.
You tell that plate who's boss.

Was there really no damage to the Tahoe itself?
$10.5K in damage on a $14K car and they didn't total it? I guess because the back is the easiest part of the body structure to fix without future problems.

Well, I don't know what terminology you use, but usually salvaged means totaled.

Aside from a couple of really small scratches on the front bumper...
Nope.
They wouldn't total it and instead decided to salvage it, and by that I mean it was a possible total, but they decided to 'fix' it back up to 'new'.

Don't accept the car! The chassis has to be twisted. It will never be the same car.

No, they are two different meanings.
Totalled refers to damage that is either unrepairable or repairs that costs more than what it is worth.
Salvage refers to damage that is extensive but is reasonably repairable.

i would not want that car after that

yaris crumple zones at work, the tahoe has a rigid body like a pick-up truck

Do the rear doors open? I would have to say the crumple zones worked. I would seek legal advice on this one.
Was anyone hurt in the Yaris? Sorry to see it wrecked.

after they decide to salvage it .. offer to pay the salvage fee if you have room to store the car.. usually you get to keep the car for $50 bux.. then you can part it out like crazy and make some money off it :)
or have a ton of free spare engine parts

do not accept this car.. they are putting a salvage title on it, meaning that u will not be able to get comp or collision on this car! you will never have more than liability. tell them!!!!!!!! its totalled and they are trying to funk u over by doing this and them not having to pay as much out.. DONT DO IT!(i work in insurance claims)

Btw, thats what my last Yaris looked like, when it talked back to me.

Yeah I was fine, both the jackasses went about the situation like it was nothing though :w00t:
But it's been a while so im pretty sure the possibility of getting a new one is outta the question, they've already repaired it and ive been driving it.
Thanks for the info though dvln, Ill remember that.

So does it look and drive like new now?

I would have never accepted that as a salvage title, even if it meant pursuing the insurer through small claims...

Usually pretty calm, but I would've gotten in the guy's face and ripped his frikkin' head off that was my Yaris
Proof once again that people with big vehicles don't know how to drive for shit:mad:

When I got it back it looked perfect, again.
The guys who repaired it suprisingly did a good job, but theres of course little things here and there I notice that are different.

It appears that yaris was preparing to engage warp speed but at that very moment was rear ended.
