Well I took out the back seat. Once the seat was out, there was an exposed section of the metal from the car. The existing carpet only goes half way under the back seat and then stops.

Put carpet down. And made a board go across the trunk area. This board acts as if the backseat was still there. It will make sure nothing will slide forward. Also made it so the flaps that once velcro'd to the seat, can now stick to the top of the new board!

Wanted to keep the back "trunk" area still intact because I need to put my books there and what not. Still have the spare tire in there too because I can't risk missing
class/work.

It's as if the car came with no back seat!

So is it going to be permanent? Did you have a 60/40 back seat? I'm sure a few people would like to buy it.

Looks like you did a nice job there. :headbang:

That's quite well done actually. I'm usually not a big fan of people who remove the rear seats but I must say the way you did it is quite brilliant.

Any build or install photos?

Looks like a standard bench. The 60/40 has mounting holes near the floor which are cut into the carpet.

Looks good though! Mine looks so ghetto right now, but eeeehhh.

Kinda neat, I'll say!
I take my 7yo twin niece and nephew around some times, so a back seat is a must.
I have the 60/40 split seats that slide a recline and they were worth EVERY cent. Sometimes I'll just fold them flat and enjoy my "two seater"!:burnrubber:

Hey, no the seat is a bench seat. I never had people ride in my back seat. Figuired i'd get rid of it. Sorry no DIY/install pics. But i can explain how it was done if you wanted to know.

I'd like an explanation of how it was done. Does the seat cushions snap off on the 60/40, like it does on the full bench?

I looked under there, and don't see any plastic clips etc, and the bolts are kinda out of way for a good torque wrench to get to it.

I thought the bolts were easy to get to. I took mine out in maybe 30 minutes, going pretty slow?

If you have the 60/40 you need to first remove the plastic covers near the floor, and remove those bolts on both the 60 portion as well as the 40.

Once that is done you can pull the seats up, still attached to the rest of the seat via the hinge to access the bolts underneath. The rear ones are easy, just slide the seats on the track forward using the appropriate levers on each seat side and that will allow you access to those bolts.

kind of like having a YARIS pickup truck :w00t: . Thought of that with a 1st generation XB . Could use a large plastic feeding bin to load things in to take to the dump , landfill , etc..

That looks very well done.

I wish you were somewhere closer. I'd offer something for that unused seat. Rather than completely take my rear seat out, I would like to change it for the split seat.

On some weekend trips my son has to ride in the back and with the solid rear bench that has made for some `innovation' on how the gear has been packed in the car with us.

You took the black bar the seat rest on to right...I was wondering if that was any kind of support for the car...
