Hey folks, nice site!
I'm a new yaris owner, LOVE this car love it love it love it... I have a kenwood radio (7 inch lcd flip sup when you turn it on) and a gps to mount internally, but every place I take it to to get it done tells me they can't do it. Everyone says there is no wiring harness for the 2009 Yaris yet.
Is this true?
Also, I never got the fog light package and now I am reconsidering. How much does this sort of thing cost to install? (I'm a comp geek, I'd freak out if I had to touch a screwdriver).
Thanks!

My 09 has the identical radio to the 08's, so the harness would be the same. The Best Buy and Circuit City type places probably don't have data on the 09s yet, and hence won't do the install. I noticed that Crutchfield isn't showing the 09 Yaris yet either...

I noticed crutch didn't have it either. The local big shot-audio store down here told me that the 09 used fiber optics (??) and that the harnesses don't have that feature yet.
I am SO frustrated lol. This awesome radio, sitting in a box in muh trunk... lonely and sad...

They are definitely smoking crack on that one. I would suggest going to a place that specializes in car audio or bite the bullet and do it yourself. You mention being a computer geek - If you've ever swapped a motherboard, then you can handle a car audio install. If you buy the harness and install kit from Crutchfield, they give you a step-by-step install guide specific to your car.

Ok then, I'll give the harness thing a shot. Scary..
The 09 center looks different than the 08. I want to put this in:

I'm worried about cutting something I shouldn't, I do appreciate the help but the Yaris is my new baby. Only 300 miles old.
Any ideas on the toolkit I would need? Torx? Anything like that?

All you'll need are:
- Standard phillips screwdriver
- Metra double din dash kit for '07 / '08 Yaris Sedan
- Metra Toyota harness adapter
Go to metraonline.com to search for the part numbers for the Metra stuff.
As for connecting the Kenwood's harness to the Metra Toyota harness adapter, you can solder or use some crimp caps.

Interesting - I hadn't noticed that they changed the radio for the 09 sedans to the same style as the liftbacks. Theoretically you can use the 08 LB install kit. With the aftermarket harnesses you don't cut anything; You just plug the harness into the car's connector and mate the wires from the new harness to the wires from your radio's harness.
Does yours have this radio:

Or this one like my LB:

As far as tools go - Just your fingertips (to pop off the black trim pieces along side of the silver area) and a phillips screwdriver to remove the radio.

Behold the ugly stock radio:

See why I am scared? :help:
I would imagine I have to pull that cover off, but can't find a car kit for the 09 yaris. Didn't an earlier model have similar? I'd hate to spend the cash on a part I couldn't use.
I'm trying to put this in: (with the gps unit, that goes internal).

Ahhh - That is the old standard Sedan radio. It looks like the one I posted is the optional upgrade.
In that case what IsLNdbOi said is right on - Use the same kit and harness as for the 08 Sedan. The big chuck of silver is the actual face of your radio, so removing it is still not an issue. You will need the Toyota "yaris sedan non- integrated radio trim", which is about $80 from a dealer (this replaces the silver radio face with the trim shown in the picture I posted). Your radio is a single DIN one, so you'll end up the the radio and a pocket under it.

Guys, this is awesome. I can't thank you enough.
I'm desperate enough to try it! I'm definitely going to become a regular on this forum I can already tell. Thanks to both of you!
