Hi everyone, i'm new here, just got my 09 3doors HB with power package but no keyless. I been doing a search here and everyone been talking about adding aftermarket keyless entry. The reason I don't want aftermarket keyless is that I don't want to cut or tap any wire on the car, I know is way cheaper but I also like the factory remote key and want to know is there any way to add this to my car, thanks in advance.

Well if you want to go factory fitted then you should check with your Toyota Dealer or your dealership where you bought the car.

First off, Welcome to YarisWorld, LR118

I would agree that you should check with the dealer. Looking at the manual for the locks:

http://www.etimago.com/yaris/repairmanual/Door%20Lock.pdf

on Page 52, there is a system diagram. It appears that most everything would be
a plug in of some sort to go to the Main ECU. Though this is just a guess on my part.

They told me that replacement keys were expensive, but didn't say how much. :iono:
The Keyless option is about $230 when added to the power package. Let us know
what you find out from the dealer on costs.

From what I've heard, dealerships don't even install the OEM keyless entry - They add an aftermarket one. Maybe someone who works at a dealership can confirm or correct this.

The OEM module is located under the center console in liftbacks and in the right side kick panel on sedans. If the wiring harness is there on all cars you could potentially install and aftermarket one with no wire tapping...

I was in a similar situation, the car I was buying didn't have keyless but the dealership said they could install it, of course without letting me know that they were going to install an aftermarket part. Long story short, they kept saying they were not able to install the Toyota factory keyless entry because the car didn't come with it, and installed a cheap system that didn't work right, after trying to fix it they agreed to give me a refund. I'm looking for a new (better) unit now.

Save your self the trouble and headache of looking around. This topic has been talked to death on here. Spend the $35 for the high quality after market kit, the 30 minutes to put it on and then kick back with an ice cold beer.

Thanks for the diagram, I went to the dealer just now, like CTScott said they can't add the keyless option after the car is built, but they have a RS3200 VIP alarm system, they let me open the box and check out the kit, doesn't have a remote fob, he said it works with keyless or w/o, my guss is if you don't have keyless, you just have a factory alarm and you would still need to open the doors with a key. I don't mind paying for a new set of key that have built-in remote, I just want to see if this can be done in any ways.

Thats exactly what happen when I ordered my car, they said they can add "factory" keyless for $700, and I said is only $230 if it was already built with the car. So I picked one up w/o keyless. =(

All the topics people ended up getting aftermarket, I want to start a thread here for people who wants to get factory keyless and possibly a furture step by step of how it can be done, Thanks.

you can go to circuit city or best buy and get a keyless install for about 115 or so. and can do a remote start keyless for about 180 or so.

There was a thread about this topic pre-hack. I think someone added up all the parts needed and they found out it would cost somewhere between $1200-$1500. I'm a broke school teacher and I don't have that kind of money. But I'm glad some people are independently wealthy. Sounds like Obama is going to tax the hell out of you!!

I found a factory VIP RS3200 alarm system might work, but doesn't come with the key, I should get some answer tomorrow.

I have the installation guide for the VIP RS3200 and it says that it is for "Yaris Sedans / Liftbacks with factory keyless entry systems only."

It is an alarm system, not a keyless entry system.

Scott: oh yeah that little thing. For the price, i don't think it's so much worth it. the Rs3200 keyless entry was available for the echo with factory power door locks.

mind posting the install instructions (if you have them) for the vip rs3200 alarm system ?

Not a factory remote - You need the whole factory keyless entry system first:

89741-5239 RECEIVER, DOOR CONTROL (includes 2 keys) (lists for ~$420)
90987-0202 RELAY ASSY, DOOR CONTROL (lists for ~$65)
90119-0691 BOLT, W/WASHER

Two of the keys with the built in remote come with the receiver, so theroetically you would just need to have the keys cut and to have your engine immobilizer learn the transponders for the new keys...
