Ok, I was just posing in the parking lot. It wasn't my turn yet.

How do you guys get those great pictures of yourselves on the course? I was told that the SCCA organizers would throw you off the course if you were found with a camera. (this is for course workers)

Great video. The Corvette passed you but couldn't shake you off, and then you drove past the 'Teg also. I wonder what those two drivers where thinking, being chased around by an egg-shaped car around the track.

Is your car a manual or auto? I don't see you doing much shifting except at the final corner.

When he passes those two cars on the straightaway, it appears that they were probably pulling over and ending their runs.

Here are a couple pix I took when I went with Thirty-Nine to an auto-x event at the Portland Raceway. I didn't have $40 cash on me, so I had to sit it out and watch everyone else have fun. Andy let me ride with him on two runs and it was awesome. He was getting in the 34 sec range (the best drivers were getting low 30's, the not so hot were getting 38-50) which was better time than many cars costing a lot more. I have a video too, but having trouble uploading it.

Stock MR2 wheels, 15x6.5 F, 15x6.0 R, 195/55/15 Dunlop Star Spec Direzzas.

I have a big (10mm-ish?) spacer on the front and two in the rear. The wheels were free and tires were like $250. I would like a nice 15x6.5 or 15x7 wheel set up, or i thought about getting another set of the MR2 wheels. Use the skinnys for the street tires, and use the wide ones for an R compound perhaps? I have no idea what the offsets are, i could probably look them up. Anyways, i really like them bc they look OEM! They could easily come on an sport version of the car (as could stiffer springs, better dampers, and and a rear sway bar! what a car that would be!)

The TruLube Yaris held it's own against all the high powered Porsches and others. I asked an instructor to drive with me on our first runs, taking him out gained almost 4 seconds. I try to harder when someone is trying to help.
Tend to overdrive some then.

The Kumos are holding up well. Need some good inexpensive seats and maybe some stiffer springs. Still alot of body roll. Micro image and NST better get geared up...once I find some mulla!

Here's me driving TheRealEnth's yaris. my first run of the day, a 51.xx run. end of the day i'd shaved it to a 48.6XX run. i'm definitely not used to the transmission or the street tires! a VERY good handling little machine though!

i was thinking, i could almost even get away with the front sway bar upgrade instead since im running such high rear rates.

that's a band-aid and will slow you down as it will lift the inside tire causing wheelspin :(

yeah, i think i agree... I think i need some sleeves and springs really. but if i do that, i want stiffer rear springs. i think my ideal set up would be 300 lbs F, 400 lb R. Im considering the perch on the rear shock idea. Would you do it if i sent them down?

perch on the rear shock isn't recommended. the wall thickness is not thick enough i think. maybe look into shocks from teh rear of an accord?

they are a bit soft. I think the car could easily use a few hundred pound heavier springs front and rear. i have 3kg front and 2.2 kg rear now, so thats like 166 front and 124 lbs now, i would like to see about 300 front and 250 rear at least, so double what they are now. the car is really well balanced, so it doesnt seem to need alot of rear spring on a road course (autox may be different.) anyways, without coilovers, i dont see that happening anytime soon so i guess i just have to leave it as is. right now, the most idea set up would be a front pair of tiger tec springs and rear S techs (so 4kg F, 3.5kg R), that would help, but could still use more spring rate.

Yes, 07 with 34000 miles. A huge chunk of the block came off, about the size of a big doritos.

And I don't know about the fit, he seemed quick but we were not in the same group.

im curious to know how they would do back to back with similar mods. i havent looked much into their aftermarket support, but i wouldnt doubt that its probably a bit stronger. i think stock for stock, a Fit sport would be a little quicker despite the weight disadvantage, but i dont know that for sure.

This video is from earlier this year at the beginning of the race season, Autobahn country club in Chicago. Redline Time Attack saturday practice. This particular event is what convinced me to go ahead and build my motor as I got outpowered and there was nothing I could do about it. 130whp doesnt cut it any more in street class.

I was chasing a k20 swapped Civic, you can see how much he pulled on me in the straits, and out of the turns ( I have no lsd).

Next season I should be better off as my power to weight ratio is 11.5 pounds per hp (whp). A stock Evo 8 and 10 have 14.22 pounds per whp, and a new gen Civic SI with 250whp (boosted) is sitting at 11.2 pounds per whp.

I say that because My closest competitiors of the previous years are around the 11-12 pound per whp mark, so im now sitting pretty.

Hey Blown xA , Try braking a little later and apexing a little later and you should be able to pass the civic . It looked to me that the civic was holding you up . Yes I seen the civic pull away , but I also seen you reel it back in .

it's hard to tell from videos( because feel is absent), but the lines I had were optimal for my set-up. Entering the turns later would have killed my speed more. My lines are more to get me straiter faster, a shallow exit. This is because my car has good torque and no lsd. If my car is loaded up exiting a turn I have little acceleration as I just spin the inside wheel. Also at the time I was low on horsepower.

But that is where I was catching him was in the braking zones.

Took the Yaris out to my first auto-x this last weekend! Was a blast and had nothing but positive remarks from everyone there. Managed a 50.898 in my final run which put me in the middle third. Not too shabby for just having an AFE intake, rear swaybar, and Yokohama S-Drive tires. Can't wait for the next event!

Took her out for a Sunday drive. Managed times as good as some WRX drivers. Looped it once for a 360, kept going. Old Comp T/A R-1s in 205/55R-14. Stirpped out all I could. Banged it off the fuel cut-off...it was fun. No mods at this time.

Got to go out into the blazing Arizona sun for another autocross meet. It was a relatively plane-jane course but still fun even though I chickened out on the last slalom the entire day. Largest novice turnout we had in months as well!

Definitely do it! Just be willing to grind through your plastic wheel wells a bit :thumbup: Makes a hell of a difference over the Yokohama S-Types!

Thanks, the Si is on a different class but it's only 1sec faster. But his 206whp (vs my 109whp) really help getting out of the corners :) .Never got to pas him but we are friends and he was "wtf he's still behind me" xD
I'm moving to the Dominican Republic, the Yaris stays here in PR but he's gonna become a Weekend Warrior only car, so lots of mods still to come, including stripping the interior (which i've always wanted to do).

Yeah it was clean, or at the very least I got away with one :biggrin:. This club uses HUGE cones so I probably clipped it enough to smack into my sheetmetal but not bounce out. I hate the wheelspin, and desperately want LSD. I usually don't blaze the tires like that, but on this course it felt fastest to do so.

Not so good. Wheel spin is a big issue coming out of hard sweepers. You can really hear it in my last run. I really push my car and get it side ways in the zig zags.

Started out in the Tercel yesterday...then blew out the cam seals so I swapped the 225 Hoosiers onto the Yaris and had fun. The Yaris is a damn good car. Im glad to really push my suspension mods and appreciate them. I think i will start running it now. Just need aggressive alignment settings to take full advantage of the tires.

From last Sunday. Local track has a psuedo AutoX to help the cabin fever in between race seasons. Ran my summer tires vs Hoosiers...good thing I did. Rain in the morning. Forgot how good this car really is.

Trying to bring the thread back from the dead.

Just went to my 2nd Autocross event. I had some competition for last place with a 4 door civic that hit about 8-10 cones in total over 6 runs :P. I started with 78 seconds 1st run but didn't push it was basically a 2nd parade lap. 2nd 69, then I ran 3 67 something and last was 66.7 but I got a dnf. Still 12 seconds off pace of HS class pace, but not expecting to be competitive.

Still lots to improve on driving wise. Rear antisway bar really helped with handling though. Going to use up these 5 year old 780 treadwear tires and have fun. Really frustrating having very noticeable throttle lag, but oh well this is all just for fun.
