I have a Yaris LB (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10634) and wanted to purchase an iPhone mount. Considering the AUX cable is near the hand-brake and I use the iPhone for directions, any recommendations on mounts?

maybe he has in fact an itouch?
I was going to get a vent-mounted ipod holder but I adjust my vents a lot.
they also have a fake bottle holder mount, which fits into your drink holder but has a bendable mount attached to it?
I think i remember seeing both of these inside an Autozone (car part store)

pinoypizzaboy: I have an iPhone 3G and it works fine with the AUX input in the Yaris 2009. I just use my stereo cable to hook up.

YAR1S: Thanks, I might check out Autozone for one.

Check out ProClip USA for an iPod 3G mount + mount for your Yaris?

I checked out proclip and it does not seem like an elegant solution. First the mount costs about $70 (clip and holder) and sits at this really odd place where I wouldn't want my GPS tracker (on iPhone) to be while I am driving. Attached is an image from ProClip's website showing the mount.

I've had proclip mounts for most of my past PDA phones and vehicles, but I am not a fan of their mounting choice for the Yaris either.

I recently switched to an iPhone for work and am really trying to figure out where to mount it in my Yaris. My last phone was a Windows Mobile phone with a built-in GPS, so I ran TomTom on it.

The iPhone google map thing is not enough for me, so I am trying to decide if I should wait for TomTom to "possibly" be released for the iPhone (TomTom has the product done, but they can't come to an agreeement with Apple on distribution), buy the Alpine HU with the integrated/removable TomTom, or just buy one of the latest gen TomTom units and carry it with me when I travel (I fly about once a month for work).

The iPhones mounting location for me would potentially be different for each of those options. I think that whereever I mount it, I will either re-route the aux jack or get the real iPod/iPhone interface for the HU.

Since I just use my ipod and iphone for music, I simply plug in a itrip and set it on the dash with anti slip mat. Easiest cleanest solution for simple music playback etc.

They have one that mounts on plastic dash piece surrounding the center AC vents. They list it under the sedan, but it does fit the LB. I have used one on my LB before.

itrip idea is good but I have heard that you suffer from interference. The location of the AUX jack is certainly odd because no matter what there is re-routing issue especially with iPhone where you do want the ability to see the screen. I was actually thinking of some of these windscreen mounts with suction cups placed above the speed-o-meter.

try bracketron.com they have a mount that goes right next to the radio

Bracketron doesn't have a mount specifically for the Yaris. I've looked at their site recently.

The ProClipUSA mount that goes in the silver bezel around the AC vent is probably one of the better ones you'll find aside from custom setups.

yeah but they have a universal one that you just bend the base to bolt in and done. things dont need to be specific there always alternative to things ive done universal base mounts in alot of cars that dont have a specific mount from them so i dont see why a specific mount is needed a universal works just as well

A specific mount works better because there's no bolting needed. It simply clicks into the place it's supposed to be mounted to.

:laughabove:
huh? theres different types of mounts do you even know what your talking about? one that are bolten in are actually more secure then something clipped in i can see your install skills arent really that great ive been installing the universal mounts that BOLT in for years and work better then something that clicks in. i agree a specfic mount works better but a specfic mount that can be bolted would be better.

I know there are different types of mounts. There are the universal types that often don't fit very well on any specific car since they're "universal". Then there are mounts made for specific cars.

I've tried many types of mounts for the different cars in my family and the car specific mounts were always the best.

i seem to get the universals to work i havent run into any problems yet on any cars and its only obvious that car specfic ones work the best just because there designed for the car that its going into. but there are car specfic ones that will work with different models of the same make you may just have to bend the bracket alittle as most companys use similar mounting solutions for the radio that it bolts into thats why when they normally sell dash kits they cover a broad range of cars under that make because the mounting solution is the same

I finally went with a mount I found on dealsextreme.com (link (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15543)). It looks great as you can see in the picture. It is inexpensive but does not look cheap. Next I need to find an Apple connector (at the bottom) to go to an Aux stereo pin to complete this combo.
