Help! I get in my car this morning, turn the key and nothing. Not a click, moan or anything. Headlights, stereo and A/C all work fine. The car has been registering 13.9, 14.0 consistently on my scan guage for the last couple of months and the battery is only 1 1/2 years old. Car is 2007 Hatchback. Any Ideas? Charging the battery didn't work either

Go get a neighbor to try to jump start your car. If nothing happens still theres your answer. Its not the battery. Its either your starter or ignition switch

best thing to do is try and get it to the dealer.....

other than that any mods that could alter electrical components in the car?

oh and welcome to Yarisworld unfortunately this isn't the right section to ask this but hopefully a moderator can help you out by moving it to the proper forum....this forum is for the site itself not the car

Is it an automatic?
If so, try starting it in neutral position (parking brake on to hold the car still.)

Keep in mind that the ignition does not start cars like they used to. It simply sends a signal to the ECU to start it (hence it automatically cranking until its started, etc).

The fact that their is no click at all and everything else gets power it is probably not the battery. The best place to check would be the fuses. Other then that a connection is probably bad.

Thanks, I think its a fuse problem but I can't find a diagram of what fuse does what

If it is a manual transmission, could the clutch switch be bad?
When I put in winter car mats over the carpeted floor mats, I found that the winter
mat sometimes caused the clutch pedal to not go all the way down. Thus, the car
wouldn't click but just give me dash lights, etc. So, I had to pull the mat back toward
the seat a little for it to work. I'm going to have to trim the mat a little or possibly
remove the carpeted floor mats underneath.
Just a thought.

we had a '03 MATRIX and '99 COROLLA do that . Especially first thing in morning or when driven awhile and then restart after sitting for a bit . They did start overtime . Thankfully we've always had 2 cars . Makes me wonder if it's an fuel system thing ( fuel pump , injectors , computer , etc. ) . Such as flooding or no fuel . :iono:

Thanks!

My wife cleaned the mats in her car yesterday and this morning her car wouldn't start. After reading this I just went out to the car, moved the left mat to the left side and the right mat to the right side (yes, the mats where put the wrong way). The mat had been a long way up under the pedals. After that the car started without problem.

First of all, make sure your mat isn'tt stuck (even just a little bit) under the pedal. This happened to me in the beginning, and the car was completely dead, unable to start. The mat was the problem. The dealership cleaned the car before giving it to me, and forgot to hook up the mat so it was sliding a little bit under the pedal. try that first.

Wow...that's a long time for your car not to start (11/2008) :)

Heres another "my car wont start" possibility. One cold morning when it was seven years old my ECHO wouldnt start. I figured "Seven years...bad battery." Bought a new one and it still wouldnt start. The problem? ICE got into the switch at the bottom of the clutch pedal travel! Merde!

it could be a ton of other things, what happens when you turn the key?
