Hi everyone I recently bought 4 YRX Alloy Wheels which are still on the Original Dunlops 90% Thread Tyres off the trading post on the weekend to stick on my 2007 YR & I'm curious to know if its necessary to replace the 14" Steel Spare with a 15" Steel Spare.
By the way out of curiousity when purchasing a prefacelifted YRX brand new did they come with a 5th Spare Alloy Wheel or do they just come with a 15" Full Size Steel Wheel?

I wouldn't worry about changing the spare, it's only something to get you out of trouble anyway. Having a full size 14in spare has gotta be better than one of those stupid little space saver things any day IMHO.
I highly doubt there would be any laws that say you need the 15in one, and even if there is, you'd never get picked up for it anyway.

Its only a slight difference in overall diameter so having a 14 inch spare is nothing to worry about at all. You should remember to pump it up every now and then though.

The YRX grade comes with a full sized alloy wheel if I remember correctly.

The law in Vic states.....
You must have the same tire on the same axle. E.g. The front left and right tyres must have the same tire size and tread pattern.
So techinacally you would be unroadworthy driving around with a 14" on the front left and a 15" on the front right. But you would be doing so just to get the damaged tyre fixed.

Hmm yep guess im off to a tyre centre for a 15x5.5 Steel Rim with a 185/60 R15 tyres lol

1. Yes you would be unroadworthy.
2. It would only be between the period the tyre breaks and you get it replaced.
If you were to drive straight to a tyre place and get it repaired or replaced you would be very unlucky to be served with an unroadworthyness certificate.
There is no law that the spare in the boot must be the same size as what you have on your car. (Beware I am not giving legal advice and i may be wrong)

You can even buy a can that will inflate a damaged tyre and stop it from leaking air temperairly. Some people just have a can in there boot and remove the spare to get better mpg/kpl.

Better be safe than sorry anyways remember a while ago I was concerned with the speedo error in my YR.
Now with the 15" YRX wheels my speedo now is just 2-3 km's higher than the speed reading on my GPS across the board woohoo!!!!

I have a YRX myself and the speedo is 2-3km higher, i measured it with the gps. However my wife has the YR and the speedo is anywhere between 4-9km above the the gps depending on how fast your going. So i know your pain. The 15' will make life easier for you.
