This could go under fuel economy too, but for me it's a performance issue.
Please post up anything you've taken out of the car and WEIGHED. I'd like to start a list (like we used to have) of what the savings are on each item.
I can start with rear 60/40 seats, which I removed this morning.
40% seat = 35.5 pounds
60% seat = 55 pounds
TOTAL = 90.5 pounds
3 rear seat belts are next.
Clean out 3 months of trash
5lbs

I think it would be appreciated by all if the comedy were left out of this thread.
The one-piece rear seat weighed as follows:
Rear Bottom - 11.0
Rear Bottom Support - 6.0
Parcel Shelf - 1.5
Rear Back - 36.5
Belts (all) - 7.5
Total - 62.5
Stock steel wheels weigh around 19 pounds each. Replacing them with readily available 12 pound alloys saves a total of 28 pounds (and it's rotating mass, which really helps acceleration and braking... and unsprung weight, which helps ride quality and handling over rough surfaces).

I have removed the rear trunk area, plastic compartments and spare tire but I do not have a scale available. Could someone please find the weight of these components? Thank you

If by chance you were referring to Yoda's post, it is a valid post with a good percentage to gain in fuel economy.

the headliner felt like it weighed 3-5 lbs.
The carpet felt like it weighed 15 lbs, (no scale).
Does anyone know where I can get the entire car weighed here in Socal?

good question. some recycling places might let you drive onto the scale, or let me ask Rick over at the shop. I'd like to weigh mine too.

contact any race shop to get your car weighed... they shouldnt charge you much, but they would also be able to tell you corner weights just make sure your tires are properly inflated before you go on the scales

shoot, go to a junk yard. If you ask them they might let you drive your car onto their truck scale. You could always slip them some money, lol.

Brake pedal assembly: 9 lbs. Clutch assembly: 7 lbs. Plastic gas pedal assembly: 2 lbs. I suggest keeping the gas pedal, otherwise you can't even go...
Sorry, couldn't resist.

True, however if one's car is filled with garbage, they are most likely not as concerned about negative effects of weight addition as the rest of us.

Anyone tried removing tar sound deadening material from the Yaris. I did this on my Civic Si and it weighed a total of 28 pounds. Yaris probably has less of the stuff, if any. I haven't looked yet.
The stock air intake weighs 5 pounds. The Injen air intake I replaced mine with weighs 3 pounds.

The tar is only on the seams...I'm going to try and remove it pretty soon here.

if its the aluminum stuff you are probably looking at around .3lbs per sq ft, if its the non-aluminum stuff, probably even less. I can't imagine taking that stuff off, but to each their own.
Is the stock engine cover really needed? does it serve any purpose other than to look nice?

Nope...just looks nice...no fuction served that I can think of, other than shielding your arm from the hot cam cover when installing a header.

Nope, I'm talking about the tar stuff that is under the carpet. It does add up. Look under the front carpet in the Yaris to see if Toyota used it. The other poster says they only put it in the seams. You use either a heat gun to soften it for scrapping it out with a plastic scraper or you use dry ice to freeze it and then it is brittle enough to chop out. My Civic had quite a bit of it, all throughout the car, especially in the trunk. Don't think Yaris has any in the back, but might in the front. I just haven't had time to check yet.

I have no carpet, and I can say for sure that the "tar", which looks more like drywall putty or cake icing in the yaris, is only on the main panel seems.

So are any of you lunatics that are ripping out your 60/40 seats interested in selling or trading them for the solid rear bench, by any chance? :respekt:

I'd actually recommend shipping it in two pieces, it couldn't be more than $40 parcel-post via the USPS then, since it caps at about $20 for a 70-pound package, and two packages would be much less likely to end up 'too large' where you get pounded badly in oversize/overweight penalty-charges.

I only removed the lower part of the rear seats(the one you put your ass on) and it really didn't weight that much. The factory carpets are removed. The spare tire and trunk carpet and things also removed and the the jack and all tools removed.... I only feel more noise but just for my peace of mind I run the car with only $10 (some 4 gallons) of fuel just in case.
I wonder how much the front and rear windows weight? Those sure weight a few pounds.....
