V2...
OK so yesterday evening I get a call on my Blackberry from the phone service provider, to warn me that my phone bill was really really expensive due to high internet usage (charged per minute)... So I am really confused, they had a special promotion tied-in to the phone, flat rate of usage for about $35 a month, but now they want to charge me over $300!
Turns out they revoked that promotion and there was a warning in my last phone bill... I never really look at the other pages, they're all advertisements in Thai anyway, so I am trying to find the bill today.
I realize I am in the wrong, since they did give a warning, but there's no way I'm gonna pay that much for the same service! What do you all think? Suck it up or fight it?

fight it, here in canada they will send you warnings on your phone so you can't miss them
They might have, but the BB does not display Thai characters

well I am royally screwed...
Turns out the warning was pretty clear in the bill, but... I never opened the damn envelope... must have been kinda busy that day, and since it's a flat rate I didn't bother to check...
And the worst thing is... The $300 is for this month *so far*. The bill for October which I just received comes up to... wait for it... wait for it.... 65,000 Baht which is just about US$1,800... That's some of the world's most expensive emails I have sent!
So yeah, I am clearly in the wrong here, gonna have to meet up with one of the service managers to try and appeal it.. After all I've been using exactly the same service as before, just billed very differently...

That would be great if, and I mean IF I could get away with it. The store does not want the attention and he has refused transport more than once. Two people then have to leave the store to drive him home(after clocking out)in his own car and then they return to work. The whole thing stinks.

I hate going to a clearly strong-R film (Pineapple Express, Sin City, Wanted, etc.) and parents bring their 5 year old kids. It's bad enough that the kids shouldn't be watching the movie to begin with, but these same parents don't get their kids to stfu and let them kick the seats in front of them with reckless abandon.
I also hate people that go to the movies to sleep. Went to see 'W' the other weekend and a couple of people yawned very loudly to let everyone know how bored they were. If you're bored, leave the theater and get your money back! You don't disturb the other people actually interested in the film and you haven't wasted any money/more time. Effing win/win there.

I have a complaint... my Yaris came with cruise control and sometimes it works but most times it does this thing where it pulses the gas like every two seconds making the car speed up just a little then come back to the set speed over and over. It does it all the time when I'm by myself or with some else, but when I bring it to the dealership to check it out they claim it worked just fine. If they can't "duplicate the problem" they can't fix it. I've called Toyota and complained and they back up the dealership. It does it for me but not for them, therefore it won't get fixed. I've went back a few times and it's always the same thing.

I have factory cruise, but haven't had a chance to really use it yet, so
I can't comment on that pulsing. It would be interesting to know more
details such as if this is on a flat stretch or hilly, what speed are you

It sucks balls bigtime. It means we fly from LAX to Sydney, they let the Sydney passengers disembark while the rest of us sit in the plane for an hour (assuming there are no light bulbs in the cockpit that need replacing) and then have to fly to Melbourne (about another 1.5-2 Hour flight).
So it's going to add at least 2.5-3 Hours to a very long day as it is and not to mention the time zone difference. We leave on Jan 26 2009 but don't make it back to Melbourne until Jan 28 2009 because of the international date line.

Look, all you can do is ask-- they're already inconveniencing you by extending a long trip by another 3 hours... so maybe they won't upgrade you to first class, but you might get free vouchers for other flights or hotel stays... my friend does this all the time... he says that the first ticket you buy just gets you in the airport, after that you can play lets make a deal. When we flew to Chicago for a hockey game we had an 8:30 am flight out of NY on United, only we made it through security at 6:45am. Well we ended up on a 7:20 am flight with drink vouchers for the plane (don't ask why we were drinking at 7:30 am) and a dinner voucher once we got into Chicago. No arguing, just polite conversation, a little flirting and a letter written after the trip commending the airport personnel.

Then again you could live in a time when it takes a week to get there by boat.
Being a business traveler and having been stuck on a plane sitting on the ground for over eight hours I have learned when one travels by air one has to resign oneself to many, many circumstances beyond ones control.
I suggest you suck it up, deal with it and be thankful you can get from LA to Australia in less than 24 hours (unless of course you know of a way to get there faster?)
I hate that person who only remembers me when he needs something and he knows I can't say no to him. blah.

Well i've written complaint letters to both VAustralia and United, let's see what happens.........
I got my response from United Airways. Here goes.....
Dear Mr. *MAD DOG*,
I understand your disappointment with the schedule change in your
upcoming travel with United.
*MAD DOG*, I know that when you book a flight, you anticipate it being
on schedule and make arrangements accordingly, so I understand your
disappointment. Please know that sometimes we need to change our flight
schedule due to capacity or other operational issues. We do our best
to minimize schedule changes but when they do occur, we arrange for your
alternate flights as close as possible to your original itinerary. I am
sorry your itinerary was not satisfactory for you on this occasion, and
we hope we will be able to serve you better next time.
Further, your inquiry in regard to providing compensation due to the
schedule change is understood. However, as per our policy we are unable
to honor your request. Your understanding in this matter is
appreciated.
Your business matters to us. Please give us another opportunity to serve
you better.

Definitely press the issue. Does another carrier fly the route you are taking? If so, call them and explain your situation. Maybe they can do better.
Call the regional manager. A call is much more personal and forces the CSR to deal with a "live" issue, rather than the print on a piece of paper. Remember, always be polite! Explain that the timing really screws you up, and that the new schedule is not what you paid for. Just keep pressing until you get what you want

Why do people keep starting the same topic as someone else? I know I am on here a LOT, but please check like, 3 or 4 pages back to find if someone else maybe just finished talking about the same thing you are curious about. And then either bump their thread, ask a question in theirs, or just bump it to get some others interested in it. Sorry...
A similar thread has already been created. Please use the 'Search' feature .
To offer an answer tho, I would guess it would be similar to a verbal conversation: Just because you didn't hear it the first time doesn't mean that you can't ever hear it. Similar conversations will happen over and over again...if you don't want to hear the conversation for the second + time - leave the room.

Here's VAustralias response to my complaint
Dear *MAD DOG*,
Thank you for your feedback as we appreciate the time and effort taken to make us aware of your comments and concerns.
It was with regret to read of your disappointment with the further reschedule to your return United flight on 26 January 2009. I do apologise for the frustration and dissatisfaction caused as a result of your now having to connect via Sydney on your return to Melbourne. Whilst remaining apologetic for the inconvenience this has caused, I must take this time to advise, regrettably we will be unable to comply with your request for compensation, as per the Terms and Conditions agreed to at the time of making your V Australia booking.
12.3 Liability for schedule changes. Except as set out in Articles 12.5 and 12.6, and unless the Laws or the Conventions say otherwise, V Australia will not be liable to you for any losses that you incur as a result of schedule changes.
I realise this may not be the outcome you were seeking and for this I apologise. Please note this letter may be used to substantiate any insurance claim you may wish to make. Should your insurance provider require any further information or details, they may contact us directly on customercare@virginblue.com.au. Please rest assured I have logged your comments as an official complaint to ensure the Management Team are aware of your dissatisfaction and for internal discussion.
I am aware that your opinion of our service has been affected by this recent event and we regret any ongoing disappointment regarding our stance on the matter.
Kind regards,

I like some Christmas movies. Like National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Chevy Chase is GREAT. And then there is the Charlie Brown Christmas. It's just classic. Like, what, 30+ years classic now? But the majority of them do portray Santa in a bad way. The post office in general sucks. They have all these rules in place to help protect everybody, but it is like a condom. You're still gonna get F*ck*d and end up with a bad case of OUCH when it's all done. And there is no real satisfaction with it either.
And then there are all those fat people driving with their bodies as close to the steering wheel as they can possibly get, so their arms don't get too tired while driving. If their car ever gets in a wreck, they will be squished, and the air bag will crush their chests, and brake their face pretty good.
And if their is such a health problem in the US, why are gymns so d*mn*d expensive? If they were free, and the goverment paid out to the gymn everytime a person went in, instead of the people paying out, I bet the hospitals would thin out QUICK! Junk food is cheaper than health food by a long shot, and everybody is poor. Wonder why everyone is getting so fat? Obesity is now the #1 disease in America. YAY! We beat starvation!

Who needs a gym?? I'm 70, and within 15lbs of my very trimmest weight. Now, cover your ears, young'uns, I have a 4-letter word here: work. I have never been in a gym, moving drywall and 2x4s around seems to work fine. My treadmill has to do with walking everywhere within range. My exercise bike has wheels on it, amazing concept.
Worst thing about work is that it gets stuff done, thereby generating the need for more work; it never ends.
Junk food is expensive! Apples are cheap. And if you cook your own food, not only are you healthier but you generate less garbage. Oh, no, there's another 4-letter word! Cook! But that leads to another one! Read! Read a cook book... another 4-letter word! My, I sure am a pottymouth today, eh? I don't remember the last time I had a burger, or a bag of chips, or a Coke, or a chocolate bar, and my memory hasn't failed that badly yet. I'm a fairly good cook, but my wife does most of the cooking (she spoils me). There are 40 or so spices in my kitchen, and I'm not afraid to use them...
So there is my rant: people are lazy: too lazy to work, too lazy to walk, too lazy to cook, too lazy to learn. Soon the only regular exercise people will get is acting as pallbearers to their (recently deceased) obese friends... ;-)

its manual, with goodyears and i didnt really rev it all that much. once or twice getting mad. but i went out now and started it, and tranny clunked. shut off and tried again, and tranny still clunked, tried a 3rd time and yeah. after it warmed up, and i started it again, no clunk. in 1st and to top of 2nd gear, hear a weird humming sound, might be just snow in wheel wells. but if i am in low gear and step on it, a slight clunking occurs. if it does it in the morning i will call dealer. would that be covered under warranty? I'm tired of people thinking that because I'm overweight, I'm too lazy too cook, walk or work. I own my own company (electrical construction), and do all the work. I'm sorry that in the winter, I like warm food for lunch. I'm sorry that the medication that I take for anxiety (due to chronic Lyme Disease) slows my metabolism. Mostly I'm sorry that the high horse some people are on doesn't throw the rider more often.
One thing I want to bitch about is the NY Governor wanting to place special taxes on non-diet soda and other soft drinks including Gatorade and other sports drinks, and fast food because the people who drink and eat them are more likely to be obese and require increased medical care in the course of their lives.
However no mention is made of the people who engage in risky sex. A person who goes out and has casual, group, heterosexual, or homosexual sex is much more likely to contract a sexually transmitted disease, and possibly pass it on to others then I am causing increased medical costs be being overweight. Most blood pressure and cholesterol drugs are now generic and cost much, much less then HIV cocktails and herpes meds.
This is not to mention IV drug users, for whom there are methadone clinics and other forms of publicly funded detox and rehab facilities.

Sorry, bobselectric, I don't see why you take my comments personally. If you have a disease that alters your metabolism, that's one thing; if you fit my description and have no excuse, that is something else. I would also think that diet is vitally important to you, so that you would be cooking for yourself and eating properly. I know people with Krohn's, and their diet regimen is strict indeed.
I see the people generating a sweat walking from their car the the McBloaters (or its drive-through), and ordering burger, fries, and a large drink (non-diet), then find themselves trying to access the medical system; they just make me angry. Bitch, rant, complain...

It isn't that I have taken your comments personally, there are many reasons why we are as we are.
It seems that every new years, when most people make their resolutions to work out more, or lose those pesky extra pounds, that folks (not meaning you, just in general people)make comments as to why you should follow their two or three week old lead and "hit the gym" or "try this diet". Stick with it and then walk a mile in my shoes- that way you'll be a mile away and I don't have to hear some of the same crap all the time
I appreciate the concern healthwise- sometimes the medicine is as bad as the disease. I no longer freak out uncontrollably (or have those violent impulses---JK) but I carry twenty five pounds more than I am comfortable with.
No offense taken, also none implied. All friends here...at least till the meds run out:laugh:

Ok, this picture is an exaggeration, but this is my complaint. Clean your car off before you drive after it snows. I can't stand not being able to see the car in front of me because you neglected to clean off the top of your car, and snow flying off at the speed of a hurricane. Even in my Jeep, I took the extra 3 minutes it takes to clean of the top, even though it stood at 7 feet tall. Despite the annoying factor, it is dangerous to all who are behind you. Throw in some ice on top and you have the makings of a severe accident caused by you.

It's the law in most states and can result in a ticket.
....and turn on your freakin lights when it's raining!

no.. my step mother would pawn off her grandchildren onto me to watch them as if im some sort of free babysitter for her grand brats and my dad just doesnt know how to keep it in his pants.. the reason we moved out here is because he promised my mom that he wouldnt cheat again, so it was a last ditch effort to save their marriage. within 6 months he was cheating again.. and within 5 years they were divorced and a yr later he married the lady he was cheating on my mom with.. planned the wedding in front of me and then forgot to invite me. so now he is on his third failing marriage. He still gives my mom money every month for me(although im 24) and visits me like once a month or so.. so i dont knock him too much for trying to make up for it all..
forgot to also mention that the day i was born, he had my 2 sisters in the car with him and he stopped at his girlfriends house for some fun while my sisters waited in the car... ON THE DAY I WAS BORN!!!!!
I love my father, but i dont respect him at all for the poor choices he has made without thinking about the family hes affecting.

But then, he got married to a girl who is 24 years younger than her.... 24 years...
Now my aunt is the same age as me, and my uncle is like around the age of my mom...

although it still doesnt beat my sisters dad's family.. theres a diabetic alcoholic incestuous uncle on that side..

Hm. Sure makes me wonder what I look like to some of my ex relatives, including my kids. However, what they think just isn't that important to me; what's past is past, and I can change none of it. I do know that my son is bitter and won't talk to me: his problem, because I know the facts of my separation from them rather than the poisonous comments made by my ex. There are two sides to every situation, plus the fact that people don't change just because they get married, or have kids, or move: they were that way before. I knew my ex was lazy before I married her, I just didn't realise how lazy, nor what effect it would have on our relationship.
Absolutely move out, even if you have to set your sights a bit lower. Not everyone starts out where they believe they should be...

all of the facts about my parents divorce have been confirmed with my father.. he had basically done the same to his first wife, and is still trying to make it up to his first daughter.. shes more forgiving than i am. after finding out that information, i can no longer picture myself as daddys little girl like i once was.. now i can barely face him. once makes someone human.. doing something repeatedly makes someone hurtful and a jerk. hell it seems thats all that has ever been in my life.. maybe theres just no hope left for mankind..

True 'nuff, jinxor... Maybe it's time for a clean slate. I did that some decades ago: new town, new relationships, new friends, new climate, new look altogether. At your age, it is quite easy, and the results are normally very good: it allows for you to get a whole new grip on who you really are, and make the past far less important. Please consider it, life could improve a lot, and if it is necessary to return to your past, it will be easier and more objective. Just my 2c Canadian...

TAKE TIME TO READ THIS. IT WAS A REAL BAD EXPERIENCE.
Things i hate about UNITED.
1. They change direct flights to flights with stop overs with little notice.
2. They charge there economy customers $6 US or AUD for an alcoholic drink.
3. They have a checked baggage weight limit of 50 pounds per bag and a $200 US fee for each bag you check in that weighs more than 50 pounds.
4. The terminal at LAX (Gate 71) stinks like urine and the overhead airvents are covered in mould. I'm not talking about one vent, i'm talking about all of them.
5. The seating room in economy is ok for a small child, but not for a 500+ pound, 6"4' tall man.
6. There staff are rude and are not helpful.
7. They covered my wifes brand new suitcase in some sort of oil or grease (they have given us a voucher to have it cleaned at there expense)
They suck. I thought that Qantas was bad, but Qantas Economy is like business class vs United Economy.
If any of you are going to visit Australia, fly on Qantas. Here is why:
All drinks including alcoholic are included in the ticket price. United make you pay $6 US or AUD for one alcoholic drink.
Qantas has a checked baggage limit of 70 pounds per bag, United has 50 pounds per bag.
Qantas has more leg room.
Qantas has in flight enertainment in all of it's seats. It's on demand movies, games and music. United you are stuck watching one of 12 screens in the roof and have to watch whatever they are showing.
Qantas staff are polite, helpful and would go the extra mile to help you. United staff would not even urinate on you if you were on fire.

Well, I sure wonder about some people's idea of international travel. 50lbs? 70lbs? For luggage?? My wife and I travelled to Europe for 6 weeks, had a hell of a good time, and brought quite a bit of stuff back. We had an under-seat bag each. Period. When the bags filled up, we shipped the stuff back to ourselves for a few bucks a box, it was all waiting for us when we got back.
That philosophy paid off again and again: go through customs carrying the one bag, nothing else, and the customs gestapo just let you pass. We got caught in a train strike, which required us to hike about 1/4 mile for an alternative line: easy, we just grabbed our bags and went, leaving the Others to scramble about looking for their stuff and luggage wagons. They missed the connection, we didn't. Looking for a hotel/B&B didn't mean having to come back to retrieve our luggage, it came with us.
There are too many alternatives. In the old days, (and maybe again, soon) one paid for ANY luggage. Air freight is cheap. Laundromats are everywhere. Drinking on an airplane never enhances the trip, and promotes jetlag. We travelled to see Europe, not for Europe to see us!
However, diff'rent stokes for diff'rent folks, I guess...

I have a partner at work that likes to make people think that he's a nice guy and works hard. He back stabs like he is the one that's always injured. He spend his time talking to people, thinking that conversation is more important than work. He hides so someone else ends up doing his work, me. What makes this so funny is that he wants favors, like me covering for him so he can get off. I've refused every time, so he can't get off. I even call in sick so there can be no way he can get off.

I saw a part that I want on a random stranger's car today.
I want the toyota hub caps seen on older tercels.
they are shitty cars but for some god awful reason the hubcaps are like $30 a pop.
I felt like asking the person if i could buy them and if they said no wait for them to leave and steal them.
too bad im a good person..... too bad.

I hate it when someone does not have enough balls to aproach me face to face when they have an issue with me. I've just spent the last hour being told by my supervisors supervisor that I am confrontational and completely unapproachable. Me. Sure I may suffer from a bad case of the "this is exactly what I think of you", but come on man. I hate being stuck in a vicious she said that he said argument over nothing that could have been resolved with a quick and direct approach. Now the whole nonissue has become this convoluted mess. I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I just hate people with thin skins that hate to hear the truth. Grow up, grow a set and get the fuck over it!

I hate pretty much all people. Not because people are dumb... because I believe most people aren't dumb. They aren't super smart either and I am alright with that. I simply ask people stop losing all my fucking paperwork in the military, my work get 1 paycheck correct, my mother in law gets off my balls, and my creditors learn what the phrase "Next paycheck." means. Oh yeah, and my house is about to be auctioned off by a bank that doesn't even have the authority to sell my house, because the prick who lived there before me borrowed $60,000 against the house and then sold the house to me before they could finish the paperwork. Now he hasn't paid a single dollar towards this $60,000 loan and they are trying to auction my house to get the money back. So my title company is going to bid on my house at the auction, and hand me keys and deed no questions asked. Over all, pretty sweet deal... but the fact I get certified mail every day saying if I don't pay I will be evicted out of my own house is crap. If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

I didn't want to but I am so hating my soon-to-be ex right now. He's poised to take EVERYTHING that *I've* worked so hard for. And when I say everything, I mean the entire house full of furniture. He was living at home with Mom and Dad when we got married...moved in with nothing but his computer and a dresser and now he wants the entire living room, the bedroom, and the kitchen set and MY computer. He's not working and wants ME to pay ALL his bills and looks as though he's going to get his way. I am SO FED UP I am just ready to hand it all over and be done. I am seriously at the end of my rope and can't take much more.
Sorry, didn't mean to vent but nobody here wants to listen. You guys can choose to read or not. I'm usually pretty good at holding myself together but I can't do this.

That is such BS. That's horrible, they should have it a set rule when it comes to divorce - "You leave with what you came with, and anything YOU bought while you were together" so that deadbeat spouses can't take 1/2 of stuff (or all of..) they didn't work for in the first damn place.
I'm sorry you're going through that :( That is really, really lame. I hope you come out on top in that situation!

I don't think I will and I'm so tired of fighting. I had everything when he moved in...some things we upgraded but I offered to pay half (even though even most of the new things I purchased anyway).
he just wants it all and at this point, i can't stomach trying to fight.

That's the law in Virginia. Anything had prior to being married does not fator in the dissolution of a marriage and cannot be added to the pot:headbang:

That's cool! That's how it always should be, I hate people who feel they are entitled to things just because their significant other worked their ass off to get it. It makes me sick.

Wow what a stand up guy:thumbdown: I hope everything works out for you. You said it everything you worked for. I see it like this; if you came in with nothing you leave with nothing. He doesn't deserve anything from you. He is just being a parasite and feeding off of you, what a lowlife:mad:. Sorry to hear you're going through all that, fight for it, it's all yours. Hopefully he walks away with nothing. Keep your head up:smile:

I have a math test in a few hours that's open book but it's a pain in the ass to know which formula to use for what problems. So even though it's open book, it's barely any help. I only care so much because it's the single class I'm taking so I can get my teaching associates, already applied for graduation and would be bummed if couldn't graduate yet because of the bullshit math class. Einstein's mc-square can kiss my ass!

Aww..thanks for making me feel a little bit better. I guess it's why I've been quiet the last couple of days. He's usually quiet for a while and then goes on these tangents and gets all of his friends involved. It's really, really draining.
