So I was looking at this article (http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0706_turp_project_toyota_yaris/index.html) and got an idea. This might sound stupid, but should we have our own online magazine? I mean, we already have stickies and unintentionally duplicated threads on certain subjects. Wouldn't it be better to have a magazine that displays all the stickies in one quick-guide, and articles that review all issues solved for our newbies and future members by using a simple pull-down menu (instead of having to search for a thread with no luck, posting a new one, and then finding out later that there already was one)? Another forum I'm with is doing something like that and people are not posting problem issues as frequently because these articles are answering ALOT of their questions. Maybe we could start with the most popular subjects that seem to be on fire on from each main room on this site and work our way up form there. What do you think? Ideas?

Who would run this magazine? The mods are busy enough as it is.

They should make a master "Magazine", with all blank "Pages", and then make sections in it, like Engine, and suspension, and what not, and have some nice easy to use guides with pics, then at the end of each one, people who used the guide could posts statements and pics of their rides and work. Also, a GREAT way to make anything more popular, is to offer free goodies (car parts seem to be the best attention grabber) to those who posst the best pic of whatever, or the best comment, or whatever it is that is being judged on that month. Just my two cents. (I need them back when you are done with them, by the way.)

I like the idea. It would be cool to have all our knowledge put into one place.

well cali yaris started a kinda e-zine on the micro image main site (http://www.microimageonline.com/ezine.html) though it never really took off yet. I'm sure if there's enough interest we could spend more time on it!

YEA, MAYBE I'LL DO THAT. roflol, I'm so bored. What do you guys think of the first YarisWorld magazine?

Seriously though, you don't think it would be cool to have a magazine that looked really professional and had all the information we've put together? Like a modding magazine? We could sell it if it was good enough... I can man the staplers...

we haven't really updated anything in a few months... It's actually very hard to find things to write about

As for doing an actual printed magazine, that would actually be awesome, but waaaay too much time and effort for us to organize and do...

LED bulb replacement - on all bulbs inside and out

Smoking your tails, and you. The various methods

Increasing horsepower; ie. how to have sex in the Yaris (there's a good thread about it somewhere)

Being more green than your snobby neighbor - installing an oild catch can

Doctors say loud music gives you benign prostate hypertrophy: installing a budget stereo

Installing a tach, because you don't have enough gauges

Your scangaugeII and you - what your mother didn't tell you, and what your father was too embarassed to say

You can have these topics, no charge. lol. I should be a writer. =]

The internet has pretty much rendered magazines obsolete.

Why have a Yaris mag when YarisWorld has much more extensive info that is updated each second that new info becomes available.

I used to have subscriptions to 4 or 5 mags at a time throughout my teenage and young adult years. Car & Driver, Motor Trend, Automobile, Road & Track, Autoweek, ect...

Now, all those articles and info and much more is available FREE online and is up to date day to day. Needless to say, I cancelled those subscriptions years ago.

I think this is a great idea! MicroImageOnline is working on something like this, but having more/others wouldn't hurt.

I asked to help out with Cali Yaris' e-zine and he was excited about it, but I think he got swamped with other matters and hasn't gotten back to me on it. I know he just launched his own 'myspace' style page for micro image: http://microimage.ning.com/

First off, wanna say Happy Thanksgiving to everybody. Hope you're all enjoying a great Turkey day with loved ones.

Great to see interest growing! Lots of great ideas brewing from you guys. This just might be doable .

If I were in charge, I'd elect Sodium Duck to be in charge of posting main articles, seeing as how I couldn't come up titles that catchy if my life depended on it. The rest of us can pitch ideas to the staff for articles as they become more popular. As for individual problems, these forums would do just fine:biggrin:

We could even merge YW's mag later on with Micro Image's. Having his staff networking with elected staff members from YW might help Micro's pick-up more steam, and also get YW's off the ground.

Let's see where this goes:smile:

the Micro Image magazine is started and getting some attention.

I am looking for contributors, both the one-time type and regular contributors. Please PM me if you'd like to submit an article. Articles can include pictures.

Keep in mind magazines are a ton of work, especially print pubs. (I was an Associate Editor for a couple of magazines in the hobby industry for more than five years.) I've been doing PR for the last 2 1/2 years, therefore, I've been on the other side of the desk working with magazines. I'd be willing to help in any way.
