after i restore my dell desktop, my cdrom can read only, when i'm try to burn the cd or dvd it's will stop at 11% and eject the disc and said burn failed.
I tried couple different programs, cd brands...all the same. Try to update and still not working
Any idea what's wrong with it?

Thanks

More than likely you are running out of resources. How many items are loaded in your start up? I used to have that problem years ago with an older computer. I used to open the system tray and close anything I was not using.

Have you looked to see if the Device Manager shows a loaded driver? If not, go to the Dell website, they'll have everything you need to ensure that all drivers are loaded.

What's Loaded Driver? When i'm check my device manager i see CD/DVD Drive - Right Click - Update Driver-Disable-Uninstall-Scan for Hardware change-Properties, tried uninstall reinstall, and still not working.

Hope not man, this is like laptop cdrom it's really not easy to replace it. wouldn't buy another dell computer, i support to have another 6 months warranty, and they are trying to bs with my warranty now. They said there is something wrong with my warranty, and i need to call back on business hour 8-5 to verifi.

If the drive is IDE, make sure Ultra DMA is enabled.

Go to control panel, system, device manager.
Locate the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and expand.
On each channel, double click, then on the advanced settings tab set transfer mode to "DMA if available" for each device under the channel.

If that doesn't help, it is probably a bad burner. I wear them out in less than a year on my desktop...

loaded driver. i think he's referring to the correct driver of your dvd/cd-rom! if you right click onto the properties, you should be able to see a tab named "driver", click that and then click the "driver details" button.

i think, you have to make sure that you are using the right driver for that specific drive(cd-rom/dvd)...sometimes microsoft will just put a generic driver and the hardware will not function properly!
