Ridiculous. I think that this forum is awesome! Lots of good info, thoughts, DIY's, people etc. You can't beat a forum dedicated to a certain car/chassis!

That post was locked up. Who cares!
Most of the mods there are here too as members......

I laugh that our old friend is starting to ask exactly the same stupid questions there that he already asked here.

Oh I have 500 to spend what should I do?..... The sad part is that there are people falling for it.

The only advice I have is don't say we did not warn you.

Yeah, Toyota Nation stinks in comparison to YW. Very little content and support.

How they can criticize YW is beyond me.

Toyota Nation wasnt criticizng YarisWorld it was the two disgruntled ex members of Yarisworld that posted the negative comments.

I kind of agree with some of them. I mean yeah, Caveartipse or whatever his name is, was annoying, but you could have just ignored him instead of feeding the troll-iness.

The people here who have time to "hunt" him whenever he registers as a new user really need to get a life.

This place isn't as nice and helpful as it once was (not just because of the hack).

From what I can see, Caveatipse is just an odd person who unintentionally got himself into trouble here by asking weird questions that seemed ridiculous to everyone else but legitimate to him. He DOES own and likes the Yaris and is interested in the community. So he is not a troll causing fires. He's simply an odd character.

I don't really consider him a troll (just a naive and strange persona), but others here obviously do. It seemed like he was serious about some of the questions he was asking, but others where just strange (was he the one that was thinking about attaching wings to his Yaris?).

People need to remember that there's always the option of ignoring those that are annoying instead of going after them at every chance.

This place would be better and new users will likely stay longer instead of being turned off by those witch hunters we have hanging around here.

Didn't you guys start it though by ridiculing and attacking him everytime he posted one of his questions?

You obviously know more about that cavea-whatever drama than I do so we'll just leave it at that.

I ignored most of his posts. That's all one needs to do.

I would just use the ignore feature myself.
I don't see much use in banning folks, except to make the mods feel useful.
I'm glad others actually spoke up.
Nice job.

Cavetipse was a little funny, but he was a very annoying jerk more often, so glad he is gone. Yaris world is SOOOO much better than they gave credit for. And I also like the fact that people here don't bash for what kind of car you have, or what you did to it, or what you plan to do to it. (except those pricks who are on here that keep saying "Go stock, because it's right and great!", yeah, you can all just ignore my posts and I will be just fine) Drive On!

I ignored most of his posts. That's all one needs to do.

Not really, it was he who had started this whole ordeal. He asked quite a few questions and/or opinions, and when given some opinions/suggestions, he lashed out at them. I, for one, was lashed out at when I gave him input on the subject he started.

He did that on almost all of his threads, and quite frankly, we just got tired of it.

I don't put anyone on the ignore list. Even though I do not like a person, I would still like to help...if that person doesn't lash out again.

No offense (seriously) but what does it say about you if you get worked up over someone "lashing out" on a car forum?

Personally, I think it is sad that we let some dumbass become such a story. I've said it a trillion times and I'll say it a trillion more, I think we should just let him have a damn username. We can't ban his DNA. He keeps switching IP's. Oh well. Suck it up. If you don't like him, put him on ignore. Plain and simple. He is going to be a member, whether it be today or in a year. His moronic persistence gives him strength. Get used to it.

Just use the ignore feature if you dont want to view what some one has to say,it works so well i dont really see the need for banning some one. As for caveatipse's obnoxious behavior i'm not seeing it over at Toyota Nation:iono:

Just an FYI: The ignore feature has a glaring hole. If a user on ignore creates a new thread you still see it listed in the forum and it still shows up on searches (including "New Posts") because other, non-ignored people may post on it.

It is in our nature to be curious and the temptation to see what shenanigans the ignored person is up to is great... sometimes too great.

That said, caveatipse was a special case. I believe he is a cunning, patient and intelligent troll. It does not matter what the topic of any of his threads are as his behavior always follows the same pattern. Generate an off-the-wall inquiry or inane/banal topic, wait for a few responses, if anyone attacks in any fashion whatsoever unleash the venom, and if no one attacks then attack the "good" responders in lieu. When those you attacked respond in any fashion claim you are the victim and plea for assistance. Lather, rinse, repeat.

He truly deserved the banning and was lucky that it took so long to happen, and that it is so loosely enforced.

I thought he was pissing folks off by PMing them ridiculous stuff.

Kal-El
12-01-2008, 10:57 PM
I wouldn't define him as a troll.

An "online troll" is a person who temporarily joins online clubs/forums with a predisposed negativity or dislike towards the forums subjects or interests and bashes that interest and often promotes his self-interest.

For example:

A troll would be a Honda nut who joined YarisWorld to make one post describing how the Fit is the best small car ever and that the Yaris sucks in comparison. And maybe he'd post up biased links to support his claim. Then you'd probably never see him again.

(this is common from BMW and Honda lovers who often have superiority complexes)

Audi ROCKS! They are just WAAAAAAY too expensive. And the upkeep is insane. And I like Mazda, they just don't use any common sense. Like the Miata and the RX-8. If they switched engines between the cars, both cars would benifit. The Miata wouldn't weigh anything, and the engine from the Miata has WAY more low end power, which is great for larger and heavier chassis (like the one in the RX-8), especially when the engine is already designed to easily handle 2 nice sized turbo's. They would have an RX-5 and a Megiata (Miata sounds like mini-auto, and Megiata is Mega-Auto, get it?) And though they are stupid names, those people making all that money could think up names. That's what they get paid for.

When it comes to durability though, no body beats out Toyota or Honda. Honda is just more expensive, and not as efficient.

Toyota wins! Ha-ha-ha!
