My white stalion only has 15k on it and it has a blown seal. I am worried that this is not the only issue with the car even though the dealer is going to fix the seal? Should I be worried? I am in Utah where the winters are hard and I have a long commute, so insights are welcome!

just take it to the dealer they should fix it if its under warranty. or go to a car store and buy a new clamp and grease. be sure to grease the inside of the boot if you do it yourself.

how did the seal blow? that doesn't make much sense, they aren't under pressure, maybe it was faulty from the very beginning I don't know... maybe a little more info would help, how did it happen? what were you doing when you noticed it?

I notice a leak while I was changing the oil, there is also a crank seal leak that I noticed, scary stuff. I took the car today to the dealer and they said they will have everything fixed by tomorrow. I will let you guys know more details of what they found tomorrow. Thanks

i dont see why you'd have to pay for anything while youre still in bumper-bumper warranty...

i had lots of stuff go sideways in my old matrix, but it was all covered...

Would you need to prove you did proper oil changes, etc. in this case to avoid a hard time from the dealer?

How much oil are you putting in your car. Too much oil leads to excessive crankcase pressure resulting into blown seals. Such as cam, crank, valve cover and oil pan gaskets. Whichever is the weakest first blows to relieve the pressure.

That or your pcv valve is clogged. I would reccomend removing it and seeing if it rattles and cleaning it with some carb cleaner. Or just simply replacing it they are cheap. I always replace my every 2 years. Along with my radiator cap. Very cheap and easy to fail items. That could save you hundreds if not thousands down the road.

you did say axle seal, right? wouldnt that have nothing to do with whether or not you put oil in your engine?

3.7 liters (think that is how much the manual says), I am extremely careful when I change the oil (always mobile one), at least I hope I am... Do you think that this could be the only problem, or is there an underlining issue that needs to be addressed?

Thanks for your comments though!

Ok, so the dealership guy just called and mention that it is only one issue. It is where the axle is connected to the transmission, which it has been leaking everywhere. It will be fix by tomorrow!

Keep you guys updated...

I had an axel seal leak soon after a clutch job on my Satty. What a hot , smokey, smelly mess it made!

I had that same problem at 13k... Happened after I hit a dip on a gravel road really hard (I didn't see the dip until the last second).

7,000 miles later I still have no problems. I was worried that the alignment may be off, but I've got no abnormal tread wear.

If you've hit a similarly hard bump recently then I'd check the alignment, but wouldn't worry unless the mechanics says something is haywire when you have your oil changed, or you start hearing noises.

I have an 08 LB with 20,000 miles. Just got an oil change and while it was up on the lift the mechanic pointed out I have an axle seal leak aswell. I am taking it in to the dealer tomorrow. Think it will be covered under warranty?

That's just plain awful. What ever happened to "Toyota quality"?
Hope the yaris does'nt turn into the next Yugo...

Yes, so you guys found these problems, others are finding other problems like me and lots of others with the 07 yaris.

Now I see never to make the mistake again of buying a first year model, or for that matter, this inexpensive of a car period :/

Other then that, its a great car.

I love the car don't get me wrong! 40+mpgs and it's paid for! I just hope it's covered under warranty. I'll let you know as soon as I find out for sure.

Mine was an 08, so not the first model year, I doubt they changed the seals between the years... I think you ask for too much if you think a car will not have any problems the first few years you have it... tho those issues should be covered for free (which mine was)... it wasn't even the dealer I bought it from... so any dealer should cover the seal unless you're past your 36/36 period

Although mine is also an '08 I put almost 30k on it in one year with no problems or leaks what so ever. I only recently took it to a dealer for the very first time since driving it away from one when I purchased it to have the a/c evap. replaced under a TSB-which I learned about from this forum. Besides, anything to do with the drivetrain-engine/tranny is covered for 5years or 60k miles. Things happen I wouldn't put too much weight into it especially since it did not strand you some where off the side of the road.

Brought the Yaris into the dealer this morning. They are replacing the left axle seal under warranty. They don't have it instock. I am bringing it back in Monday the 19th to have it done.

I had the same issue at 48.000 Miles left axle seal was leaking, I found out while changing mi fog light bulbs, it’s quite easy to notice. I consider it as normal wear, sometimes there is a bad batch of seals, and the rubber hardens prematurely. The dealer fixed it under warranty. I hope no other seals are like thins one...

I have 120 k and after an oil change and tire rotation by ntb, I started getting a thumping sound coming front driver side tire I could feel thru the floor board. I pulled the tire off and there were no issues. Spun the tire and it was smooth. Nothing under the breaks, etc. A fried seems to think it may be an Axel joint. Is this covered under the bumper to bumper? Also, not sure what the warrant period is. I have had it for 4.3 years (2007) Will toyota look at it for a charge or should I take it back to ntb?
