Not really - at least not on this island. It is only 9 miles long, and 1 mile wide at its widest point. We live kind of in the middle, so the furthest point from me is only about 5 miles away.
Going over the bridges to get off the island is definitely a car-only thing, though :smile:

They must have been late arrivals here. The worst drivers in this area are the Mass-holes next door.
I will admit that the average RI driver doesn't seem to know what the stick on the left-hand side of his steering column is for, and the jokes all show the "RI Edition" cars with no indicators. Apart from that, WE all know how to drive with each other.... It's just outsiders who have trouble.

My dad was, among other things, a bike racer and everyday driver in the 1970's so we have a few of his custom bikes still. Also we have a bunch that I was able to drive without a bike license since I wasn't old enough at the time....

Here are a few of my projects:

1) Boardtrack bike i did using a beach cruiser frame...hand-made copper tank and steel seat.

2) New and improved boardtrack bike made with an in-house designed frame and 24" wheels. I'll be making an aluminum tank to fill the space between the top and middle bars, as well as a fender for the rear wheel.

3) The Honda CB-160 I'm building to go AHRMA roadracing. I have the seat section and catch tank pretty much done...I'll get the fuel tank done in the next week or two...just as soon as I can get the buck done for it.

When I was growing up, my friend's step-dad had a place near Mt. Lassen (NE part of California), and we used to ride '72 Honda Trail 90s off road, and through some lava beds. His step dad must have taken off the 'book rack looking contraption' on the back (this ugly feature is part of the picture on Wikipedia)
