just saw how Nissan stripped down the Versa to a 1.6 motor, etc, etc.

i think Toyota should compete by selling the 2 door hatch manual for 9,000, just put no radio/cd player and no rear seats. Use ultra ultra cheap tires and no sun visors. No air conditioning either.

what do you guys think

It's not much more than that with some basic options, including power windows, seats, and CD/MP3 player, if you talk them down or get special pricing (like Costco pricing, just $400 more than what they payed for it, no questions asked). I paid $11,400 for the car (see my garage) and it wasn't horibly equipped. Manual, stock rims and tires, but a few goodies in it. No power seats or speed control, no tach, no fog lights, no sport trim, but still pretty d@mn cheap in the end. I just added lots of stuff like extended warranty, pre-paid maintenance, lo-jack, and then the tax, title and liscense will get you if your not careful. Then there's that stupid interest rate. They should call it interest RAPE. I got it at 8%, but it still sucked. Some people get 4.9%, 3.9%, and some lower than that. My parents have great credit, and they get 1.9% or lower, or they got to the next dealership. (And they buy a new car every year)

For a car like ours, it won't work unless it's an EVO XIII MR (which they did). Our cars are known as economical cars ... not a rally car, lol.

interesting, i didnt know that nissan used the 1.6L in the versa, apparently its just teh states and just the sedan....

and by the looks of the nissan.ca website, canadians no longer have the versa sedan...but likely just as well, i almost never see the sedan...

I saw Nissan advertise a $9,990 Versa to undercut the $9,999 Accent. But not $9,000.
