Trouble getting winter tires

I am hoping to get some help, trying to find winter tires.

I drive an '06 RS, which came with the 15" wheels (185/60R15). In trying to find winter tires I have tried to stay with the same size, simply because I do not know if going to a 14" will affect things greatly. The problem is that I am not able to find rims anywhere in the city at 15", and I was really hoping to have 2 seperate sets of tires.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you are able to get 14s, then you are OK to do so. Tire just then needs to be 175 or 185/65/14.

I got 2 firestone /bridgestone 1856015 winterforce - VERY aggressive tread and they have 15" rims for about 35 bucks each - but the TPMS will not retrofit to these rims - if that bothers you. Other wize General ALTIMAX ( mad3e in GmbH for multiplle european uses and brands are great maybe you can get aas 195 60 15 close enough to not make diff. I do not work for them bet they are easy and std UPS gnd shipping is FAST (at least to dock in factory where I work)

I am still unsure just any old 100mm x4 with 35mm offset 14" will fit, the brake calipers are very tight to the 15 rim dish is it is NOW ?

I just received a full 14" set of studded Firestone Winterforce's from Tirerack. Shipped to the door with hubcaps, mounted and balanced for about $560.

I have stock 15's but tireack doesn't stock 15" steelies, so I got the 14" steelie package. Both sizes are the stock size from the factory, with minimal difference in circumference. I doubt there's a different speed sensor from the factory for either combo. Its not an issue at all.

I will put them on tonight or in the morning as the first winter storm is coming tomorrow. I'll only put them on as necessary throughout the winter.

My sedan came with the 15" stock Potenzas and I got a 14" steelie/winter tire package after asking the same questions here, and asking the tire shop about three times if it was alright. Everything turned out A-Ok. Cost was my motivating factor, not just availability. Not only will the 14" tires work, you'll save some money too :w00t:

If you choose to try 14" wheels I'd suggest you look at 185/70/14 or 185/75/14 tires.
I bought some 14's with 175/65/14 snows already mounted and they're a full inch shorter than my stock 185/60/15 Goodyear LS's. This has dropped my already lowered sedan even more. The tires are fantastic in the snow but the clearance underneath causes much dragging when driving in snow tracks and across plow discharge piles. I foresee getting hung up before the winter is through.
I'm actually considering 195/75/14's if these are TOO short. The literature shows them the same height as the stock 15's.

I got Dunlop Sport Winter M3 and I love them
205/50/15

Much better than the brigestone OEM tires, in dry, 10 times much better in wet and snow.

Less road noise, much softer ride (in bumps) better cornering, I even hit 95 mph (GPS) and at that speed feels very stable.

I could go 3 or even 4 seasons that I can't tell they are winter tires.
