Painted Engine Valve Cover: Round 2

Winters in Wisconsin cause me to do just about anything to subside my boredom so the other day, I decided to start off the new color scheme for my car. I decided that I'm going to go black and red on everything to match the TRD logo and Momo acc's.

Yesterday I painted my valve cover for the second time, this time I actually got creative. It isn't really near professional quality, but for only using a single piece of tape it turned out alright. The pictures make the paint look a bit orange, but in fact it is red.

The Japanese characters on the front of the cover translate to "Ambition." My Yaris is a constant reminder of my work ethic; I have never wanted something so bad and I worked my ass off to be able to get it. Like any modification, I believe our cars should represent our personalities.

can we run around without the engine cover? Like if I were to take it off for a couple days to paint it? Dumb question...I know...really, I'm FULL of them....

Thanks Lisa. Yes, you can drive around without the cover for as long as you want without problems. :)

Hmmm, a Ramen noodle theme...be right back, lol. And don't think I'm not hittin up the Safeway or Giant Food in Nashville for some noodles. I can pretty much make everything from mac and Cheese to oatmeal in a coffee maker at a hotel. :laugh: Comes from years of traveling for work.

Yep. See, no big deal. The real reason I don't tell many ppl about things I'm working on is because I'd be really disappointed if it didn't turn out.

i guess the same steps of painting anything plastic

most importantly, just make sure the surface is clean. my personal process is to prime, then paint, then spray a clear on top of the other two coats.
