Hi ppl,

One of my friends has asked me with some help installing a CD player he picked up for free from another friend of his and after a quick look i'm a bit puzzled, and, any help would be much appreciated.

I have all the tool to do the job just need some help on a few things!

Because this is a stock CD player (i believe it was an option to have it fitted to the more expensive models am i right in thinking it should work with the top display (clock etc.)? This is what i am aiming for!

At the moment the car has the stock radio/tape (with one slot free below it that i wish to house the cd player in), i have removed this and got to the wires at the back. There are two connectors together and one on its own.

Next. The CD player i have been given to instal has been pre installed. It has several wires coming out the back (1red, 1 yellow, 1 black, and what look to be 8 wires for speaker outputs?).
So on the end of these wires there is a connector. And then....badly spliced into the wires are some more wires of the same colour that have been cut short (possibly quickly chopped off connector ).

Basically i want to know if it's even possible to wire it up so both th CD and tape will work controlled via the head up display, and if so, how!

Thanks guys

Ian

i would say just install the thing and see what happens :)

usually they are all color coded sometimes you can just match things up.. you could get the harness for the car and that will give you the layout of what wire is what

i've seen people doing the mod. But I do not think you will keep the functionality to control it from the controls above.

My guess is if you unplug the factory cassette player, and replace with another OEM unit, such as a mp3 cd player from other toyota cars, you still still be able to control it.
