Squealing brakes when cold?

I've noticed that my brakes tend to make a squealing noise when I first drive the car. It sounds like it's coming from the driver's side rear. Anyone else have this issue?

I'll most likely bring the car into the dealer so they can then tell me it's a normal wear-and-tear item and they won't fix it (how's that for optimism?).

same here, just the 1st pulling out of the driveway, i think we discussed this already tho... Had to do with parking with the parking brakes and not the ebrake?

Yep, it's just the first time I pull out of the driveway. (BTW, the parking brake is the e-brake, no?)

Whens the last time your rear brakes were cleaned and adjusted. Backing plate probaly just need to be lubricated and all the dust from the drums need to be cleaned out. Very common problem if it happens when cold and goes away when its hot. After you brake a few times the brakes get extremly hot and everything expands. WHen cold the gap between the pad and drum is greater. SO once they are adjusted properly the gap will be gone even when cold

Back from the dead ...

Bringing the car in tomorrow to the dealer; we'll see what they say. I hope they don't give me the runaround about "brakes are a wear-and-tear item," so they won't fix the noise under warranty.

for me they did a rear brake adjust and noise went away....

FYI, Beaverton Toyota adjusted the brakes, no questions asked. That was easy.

Haha--yes they liked the wheels. However, they did not check for the recall.

Mine does it only when it's cold and damp. Goes away by the time I'm backed out of the garage and down the driveway. Mine is due to a little rust buildup on the drums, goes away after the shoes clean off the rust; just normal for the weather conditions.

Sorry for the stupid question, do Yaris's have only drums in the rear or is there a 4 wheel disk option?

At least in the U.S., drums are the only available rear brakes.
