Thinking about getting these tires and was wondering if anyone has them or have ever bought any Yokohama's?

Yes, I have Yokohama E70D 205/45 * 17 84W tyres for summer and Yokohama W-drive V902A 185/65 * 15 88T for winter.
Both run very well with a lot of "grip" and not wear out quickly:thumbup:

thanks for the advice. I can pick these tires up at tirerack.com's local warehouse and not have to pay shipping so I can save a lot.

Yokohama is a great brand. I think Jeff (O3Z33) uses S drives and even tracks his car with those tires.

How's the noise level with those tires? I read one comment on the TireRack site complaining of increasing tire noise at 30,000 miles...
I got yokohama's on my BMW as well, got no complaints on them. I've been using them for around 40k miles now..no noise yet :)

they arent bad i think the wide open rims at more noise from air than the tires.. they only have like 9-10K on them right now .. i got them barely used.
definitely dont ride as nice as the stocks because they are 40's but they turn and grip awesome.. lost like 4-5mpg from them

I have the Avid V4s tires and like them a lot. Not good for the track, but on the street they are quite a bit better than the RE92's.

Well I think I have decided to go with the Yokohama AVID TOURING-S. Can't beat $232 for a set of tires!

the touring-s are all season tires though.
If there's no snow in Texas (does it snow in TX??? lol), then maybe you could spend the extra money for the S.Drive. I find they are really great daily driver tires, and i find them extremely good on rain.

I'm strongly considering S-Drives in 205/40/17 should I upgrade to 17" wheels next spring.
A small edit on what i said earlier hehe, one of my back tires popped today.

Don't get wrapped up in the brand name of your tires. Any major brand name is fine. Yokohama, Toyo, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Pirelli, etc. They all make good tires. What you need to remember is that they ALL make cheap and crappy tires, too! You need to shop for the particular tire MODEL that meets your needs and expectations.
In other words, just because I've had good luck with some Yokohama "high-performance summer tires" in the past, and someone else has enjoyed some high-end Yokohama "all-season" tires doesn't mean that the cheapest Yokohama "touring" tire is going to be the right tire for you.
While brand names do (obviously) sell tires... they are not a great indicator of a particular tire model's ability for a given application.

Bridgestone's "high-end" tire's(which are the OEM) are crap.

I am rolling on Yokohama Avid Touring right now. Make sure you rotate them things every 4,000 miles. I waited till 5,000 and they started cupping. I believe they have a good mileage warranty too. Mine has a 80,000 mile warranty which I dont think they will make it to. Great in the snow and rain too.
www.discounttire.com has a bunch or reviews on their tires so you can see how people like them also.

I beg to differ. Bridgestone makes the Potenza RE-01R (among others) which is an awesome tire.
No economy car comes from the factory with a "high end" tire. And nobody makes a truly great tire in a standard "economy car" size. To stick with the OE size, you have to pick from the mediocrity that is available. (some are better than others)

Had a set of those on my wife's Saturn a few years ago, they were very nice. I didn't think they made them in a Yaris-appropriate size, though. Even the ones I put on the Saturn were taller than they should have been.

I was talking about the size. So therefore this is Bridgestone's "high end" tire for that size. Hell I could put some Bridgestone racing tires on there....but then the speedometer would be off. The Potenza RE-01R is rated at 919 Revs Per Mile while the stock tires are 872 Revs Per Mile. The is Potenza RE-01R is 1.2 inches smaller than the stock tire. The Potenza RE-01R is 2 inches wider than the stock tire. It's like comparing a Toyota to a KIA.

Hickman, if you're looking for a kick-ass tire with the same diameter as the stock tires, look at the 195/55-15 Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec. It is the perfect street performance tire for the Yaris... unless you need an all-season tire.
You'll find a lot better selection of tires in that size than you will the standard Yaris size, and they'll still fit on the stock wheels.

The Yaris is not a race car. I want low priced tires with the highest milage warranty. You are the one bringing up put tires on the car that are not designed to be used. This is an economy car!!!!

the only mods are an intake, an axle-back exhaust, better pads, rotors, and fluid, and a gutted interior. Since that trackday I've also added a WR header.

exactly. We are talking stock here. Anywho...I'm ordering the tires next week and going to pick them up. Getting them installed at Wal-Mart for $40. So in all it will be $272, which is not bad for my little "race car!"

Actually, the dude in the M6 was the only guy that was slower than me over the whole day. After the first session I had posted times better than about a third of my run group, but as the next 3 sessions progressed, everyone but that guy improved.
b_, great price on the tires! Let us know what you think once you put some miles on them! By the way..what tires did you end up getting?
