Looking for aftermarket tach, voltmeter and water temp. guage. Glow Shift sells 2 1/16" guages but, they suggest installation in a pillar pod. Do not wish to install guages in the pillar because of curtain air bag. Also, do not wish to splice into factory wiring if I don't have to. I've never installed guages in a car before. Any suggestions concerning guage install, sensor install and brands would be appreciated.

Autometer is a good brand; I sell them. Glowshift gauges are cheap and inferior.
If you pull your A pillar, you'll see the curtain barely goes into it.
You can safely install gauges further down.

I installed them like this:

Do you sell the Tach one you have?

I have a sunpro tach. easy enough to install, but you will have to splice into a wire for the rpm readout.

The voltmeter took all of fifteen seconds to install. Just add a fuse, all its needs is power obviously.

P.S No longer have my voltmeter installed, just didnt like the way it looked.

realenth, I sell all Autometer gauges. The one on my car is Phantom II, which has a white face. PM me if you want a price, I'll have to call for it.

Glowshift guages wanted to sponsor me. I told them they can keep that cheap crap because I am not putting one of their vinyls on my car :bellyroll:

Garm also sells the ScanGaugeII.

http://www.scangauge.com/features/

It just plugs into your OBDII, so no splicing of wires. Do a search for ScanGaugeII
on this site, and you will see lots of info. There is also a DYI for a Tach installation.

Hey Garm, I think the white faced gauges look pretty good. I had thought the black
faced ones might look better. Did you get white faced because the car is white?

I have been thinking about getting the ScanGaugeII from you, but also thinking about
how my white faced one would look. It is the same model as the one in this posting:

I like that you can still open the driver's side compartment. Any problems
opening your's with the oil pressure gauge line?

Below are sanityassassinv2 tach install pics.

I got white because I like them and I'm doing a white & black thing with my car.

I do sell the Scangauge, but keep in mind it runs off the OBDII so it's not so useful for things like engine rpm's (but fine for other things like temp, mpg, volts, etc.) I have a killer deal running on it right now (but I can't publicly say the price).

My driver's glove box opens fine, I made a nice little harness with loom in there -- all the gauges are full sweep electric. Not much room in there now though!
