Hi. I just bought my brand new 2009 Yaris 5-door HB Auto today. (It even came in the color I wanted!)

Was just wondering if anyone's got any idea how to do a magnetic applique - basically, I want to have it like there's a logo on the car's hood, but without actually painting it on. I know they have magnetic bumper stickers... I'm planning on getting one of those too - but don't know how I could get magnetic appliques for the entire hood.

Congratulations on the new Yaris. Go to a sign shop. They'll make the kind that people put on work truck doors and stuff. Not cheap but that's the cost of running a business.

Actually...

...actually, I'm not running a business. I... well, I'm a journalist and it can get REALLY depressing being in that profession. So in order to keep me from going insane, I have a few, "brainless" escapes. D&D, for example. Improv comedy. And... Reality TV.

I wanted to put a "The Mole" sticker on the hood of my Yaris. The thing's black, so I figured it would make a nice effect... and if they ever have auditions again, I could use it as a prop in my audition tape.

I don't know. It was a stupid idea...

Not so stupid...although much smaller, I put magnetic sheets behind the decals that I put on my Jeep. I've also done a few on my Yaris as well, but they are smaller ones, such as a country oval. I like the fact that I can easily remove them, and reuse them later on if I so desire.

If you have the decal you want to use, all you have to do is find a large enough magnetic sheet to put it on. The ones I buy are either from WalMart or Michaels. Hobby Lobby has them as well (I suspect you have those stores up in Austin, I'm only down the road from you in San Antonio). If not, you may want to stop by a sign shop or graphics place to see if they can recommend where to get them.

Cheers! M2
