After having my car for over 2 years I found I was having hip problems from being bunched up during my commute 1 hour each way. I finally took it to a shop that customizes vehicles for the handicapped. They were able to cut the brackets to the front and back of the slide and move the seat back about 4 inches. This now gives me lots of leg room. The cost was should have been $400 but because I messed the slides up to start with I had to get a new seat frame which added an additional $500 to the cost in labor and parts. Don't try this at home. Take it to a pro. I had Access Options in Watsonville, CA do the mods (831) 722 6804. They also have an office in San Jose but the welding is all done in Watsonville. I'm extremely happy with the work. Because the steering wheel doesn't telescope you should only do this if you have arms that are proportionately as long as your legs.

Ok how does the seat being farther away from the steering wheel help?
I need the steering wheel closer to me, but I'm 6'2" so I have to have the seat back or have my knees in my chest.
