Hey guys. So here's my story. Just recently, I've been caught up in a hit and run situation. So my car is sitting in a parking lot where I work, and maybe an hour or so later when I return to my car, I noticed a dent on my car. I just realized that someone did a HIT AND RUN IN ON MY CAR... IN A PARKING LOT... EITHER TRYING TO PULL INTO THE SPOT NEXT TO ME, OR MOST LIKELY TRYING TO REVERSE OUT OF A SPOT WHILE TURNING THEIR STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY... WTF IS THAT??? WHO IS STUPID ENOUGH TO DO THAT?

Well anyways, thats the story, and I was wondering if anyone knows if the damage on my car is something that is crucial to fix, even in the long run.. like wind resistance? affecting fuel efficiency? rusting? or would I be okay.. and if anyone knows approximately how much this would cost..In the hundreds? That would be great. THanks guys!

PS: attached are the pictures.

Probably more than you think. A lot of parking lots including where I work have security cameras. Did you report this to anyone?

Call your insurance company and if you have Un-insured Motorist Coverage that should not cost you one penny.

I believe you need to have a police report done about it too.

Good luck.

If there's any bare metal showing which it looks like where the bumper and fender connect, it could rust. Check your local dealership see if they have a bodyshop, do the damzel in distress routine. Or if your car is fairly new talk to your sales guy who sold you the car and see if he can get you a BIG discount. These guys survive on return customers and will do anything for you to return when it's time for a new vehicle.

Sorry to hear about your hit and run. Since you are in California, one can't blame it on
the snowy parking lots like around here. I've been lucky so far.
Hope this gets resolved to your satisfaction.

Same w/ mine long time ago, cost of repair is $800 + tax, that includes replacing the fender and paint it only took 2 day to be done.

I went to 11 car body shops and Carsmetics has the cheapest quote at that time and you notice that my bumper has a little dent, they fix it for free.

Ha, wtf! Happened to me too a few months ago. Ended up hammering it out, looks MUCH better. Covered any open spots with matching paint after sanding off any rust, and its been good ever since. Forget spending more money on this car.

Yea, I feel your pain. Woke up one morning from a night out at this broad's beach house and was asked, "wtf happened to your car" and I said "wtf are you talking about?" Total swipe across the rear passenger side bumper. Smallest car on the damn street and someone had to hit it. Pictures after the jump.

points to you for saying the "butt wipe" I haven't heard anyone use that since the 80's.

Sorry to hear about the hit and run Pattycake. If you call the Police to get a report going, they might just tell you that you are SOL. It all depends if it was on private property or not, but still a good call to make to get a report number assigned to it incase it becomes a habit at the location you were at, it will help down the road.
