Well we knew it was coming but we still weren't ready. At1 Heiner, a man attached to my workcenter died of cancer this past week. His disease was terminal, so he, his wife and recently born son were somewhat prepared. But in the end, you can never be prepared for something like this. So I know none of you on here knew him, but I want to ask a favor. If you're the praying type, say a quick one for Mrs. Heiner and her son, they need it now more than ever. Thanks guys.
Petty Officer Heiner....Fair winds and following seas, god bless you.
Your shipmate,

Sorry to hear about this. You are never truly ready. It is tragic, especially this time of the year. I will defintely be thinking of his wife and son. He will always live in their hearts.

That sucks. I recently lost a friend just before Thanksgiving...... the timing is never right.
In my prayers. RIP.

Sorry about your co-worker. He must have been fairly young. I hope that some of his friends will take his son to some ball games next year. It seems that the younger a person is the harder it is. I volunteer for Make A Wish. They run a Christmas store for the kids at Children’s Hospital. The idea is to have them to pick out gifts for family members since they are too ill to shop. Working with some of these kids that won’t be around next year is one of the hardest yet most rewarding thing that I do in life.

I know, I just volunteered at a childrens hospital radiothon. It was rough, but we helped raise over $200,000 for these little fighters. I feel a little better knowing they will have a damn good christmas!
