Anyone know if I can wire a sub and amp up to the factory head unit? If so are there any complications or is it a pretty easy install?

Simple intall, I have a how-to on yarisowners.com for an aftermarket HU but same would apply to a stock HU. Only diff being youll have to get a line output converter but other than that easy. What are you planning to run just for curiosity?

Sweet, a rockford 12". I just wasnt sure the stock HU would support running the amp/sub. Thanks Mike

I want to keep the stock deck because I dont have enough money for a new deck plus id rather keep my aux input in working condition

If your amp has hi level inputs simply tap into the rear speaker wires and run them to the high level inputs on the amp. If you only have RCA (low lever inputs) you need to buy a simple output converter and again tap into the rear speaker wires then run RCA from the converter to the amp.
The only other thing you need to wire up is a remote on switch and the power/ground.

Thats precisely the reason to just wire into the stock harness or buy a Best Kits harness and just add the wires into the splice. Wiring into the rears means you have to pull apart the doors, splice into the wires and run to the rear and then you also have to run the remote on into the deck anyway. Its easier to hide the output converter in the dash.

Does the output converter draw any of the power from the rear speakers if you hook it up to them, or does it just take the "signal" and convert it to line level for the amp?

hey sup all
I have my stock HU and have put subs and two amps running in my Yaris. The best and safest option I find is to run an LC6 which is a Hi to Lo level converter. Its also a preamp, and uses RCA's as an output into my amps.

a remote bass control can be added onto the LC6 processor to adjust the bass accordingly
