....oh please continue the entertainment. I love listening to Mechanical Engineer's who only deal in theory and know nothing of real life experience! That thread was just getting good...

Actually....2 of them snapped in half and crumbled to dust as I pulled it into the garage.:wink:

lol, just read that locked thread...good times
i had 18x8 OZ superleggera's (17.6lbs) w/ 225-40-18 scorcher t/a tires (hard as rocks) on my matrix for over a year in the "mean streets" of london, ontario with frost heave, expansion joints, etc and had zero bends, dents, dings, whatnot. actually i drove all over ontario on those rims/tires w/o incedent
oh well, IBL

Yes...that is my e30 M3. There was no question really....just hoped to revive a thread that got locked for no reason and was pure entertainment. Please see the first thread if you are confused.

LOL...I have met multi-multi millionaires that have more engineering degrees and are 100X more humble than this guy (all of which are 10 years younger or more). It's so ridiculous...I just can't get over the comedy. All over a 15" wheel for a Yaris. Classic as classic gets!

And I was on the fence as to whether or not to get rid of my 10lb forged wheels or not.
1. I don't live in the Northeast - keep the wheels.
2. I want to track the car - keep the wheels.
3. I might run over a curb while looking at a girl - sell the wheels.
4. I am an engineer - could go either way.
I have to read the rest of the arguments from both sides.

Solution: Drive way under the speed limit.
Problem? Solved.
Anyways, we should just turn this into a E30 M3 thread. Since I love E30s. I've had 3 of them.

The only thing you need to do is get some better tires. :)
If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them, I wont avoid them.

I don't make the rules, I just follow them.
One of these days we'll start another one. :)
and just for fun, some 15x7 9lb wheels. :)

Nice wheels. Light wheels make for quicker steering, yes? And with 15s you have plenty of tire between the wheel and the rim making damage remote (save running into something).
Not sure about the rules. I guess Yarisworld is changing. Used to be you could argue all you wanted. I think the fellas are getting long in the tooth now.

thanks. quicker steering? the Yaris' steering is lighter then my wallet.
the 205/55/15 is a lot of side which I like, but nothing can replace being a responsible driver and trying to avoid known shitty streets and or potholes.

i think a set of overweight forged Centerlines will make up for having to be responsible behind the wheel.

only if they weighed 60% of stock (even though they are also 1" wider) and used FORGINGS.

Yeah, you're right come to think about it. I have stock 15s. If and when I do upgrade, I'm staying with 15s and will probably get what you have. I like those wheels.

they are sweet.
that pic is the standard 15x7 +35mm with SilkRoad Coils and a 205/55/15.
if you went with the +43mm you wouldn't need the coilovers to fit. :)
currently we're running the Tamago rear hubspacers too, they weren't installed in that picture though.

I'd like to see a pic with the spacers installed. I put custom spacers on my '81 Turbo Volvo and it made a lot of difference in the look. Filled up the fender wheel and got the track on track. heh... Oh, and I forgot to ask: what wheels are those?
I'll be going with the +43s and a mild spring/shock combo. I need to look into Tokiko to see what's up. I'll probably couple them with tanabes. Although, if I decide to go all out, its coil overs all the way with suspension bars to boot. Dunno yet though.
As far as the argument goes, I believe in good sidewall to rim ratios for the street and sane driving - wheel material notwithstanding. I do like forged wheels though. They make a nice noise when you tap 'em with a hammer. :bellyroll:

IDK why everyone is fighting over rim sizes. Doesn't everyone know that the COOL people uses rims that are only 3 inches wide? Come on folks, its what all the COOL people do.

they are Volk Racing RE30s.
Once we get the car back up and running I'll snap a few fresh pics.

I don't think it would've turned into much. the OP ran away and was skirting our questions anyway.
either way, no harm no foul.
