If you change the circumfrance measurements of the tire (ie.--add bigger tires) does this change the rate at which the odometer counts?

I have been told if you are gonna chanege the diameter then its better to go rounder then smaller. I guess the smaller you go the hareder the engine has to work. Here is the calculator I use.

rounder? are you using square wheels, or something?
and, yes, the overall circumfrence of the tire will affect your speedometer. Bigger tire profile means you're actually going further than your Speedo reads out, smaller tire profile will mean you're travelling slower than the speedo reads...

Correct
If some one was to go with say 205/55-15" at 60mph (speedo) you would actually be traveling at 59
The bigger the change the bigger the difference.
However I'm sure the Toyota dealer can re calibrate the ECU for tire size just like most GM, Ford, Dodge trucks and cars
