View Full Version : Its sad this forum is so inactive ever since the hack...

I used to be excited every evening comming home from work and reading what new posts were going on. What new mods people were doing what new ideas people came up with etc.
Now the forum seems stale. Very little activity. I try to be as active as possible and post a reply to every new post. And it seems like a few other members are doing the same but thats about it. It only seems like there are a handful of active members and everyone else is just browing through.
If anyone is new to the forum dont be to afraid to post. It is addictive =) I used to play dota every night and now I post. If you know what dota is pm me hehe.

Ya need to scroll down to the "off topic" section, thats where the people who have taken the YW forum as a way of life hang out, most people in this section (General Yaris / Vitz Discussion) are just looking for automotive advice on their Yaris.
PS. if you are sad about the lack of activity here you would become catatonic at the lack of activity over at TN.
the other reason is for the cold / harsh criticism and attacks . Who needs it  . Enough stress offline .

+1, by far the biggest problem here! None of the new people want to post a second time after getting slammed on their first post. There is a small group of people here who dont seem to want new people coming onto the forum and will bash anyone new who posts. Having seen this I don't blame those who look but never bother to post.

You guys are making too much of this. I see this thread every winter, and I say the same thing... its the weather. Most of our membership takes a break from modding in the winter, so please, hit up the off topic forum until May.

I used to post a decent bit through the year but i had to give my yaris back to the bank 2 weeks ago. :(
Dota eh? Havent played that in the longest time.
The hack probably contributed to the low traffic. I was very surprised that a forum as big as this didnt at least make daily backups. Tuck also makes a good point and his post is probably true. Plus the economy sucks now and Im sure a lot of YW members have income issues. I too am waiting for tax season around and hopefully another stimulus package hehe. I dunno, itll get more active again itll just take some time. More certainly after the holidays are over with.

Could it have anything to do with the way they treat people like absolute crap and ban them for anything? When anyone thinks outside their little box of "Nst pulleys" and "turbo," they get scared and mad and ban you and attack you. Maybe if the mods and members were NICER to people, more people would come. Don't believe me? Then just TYR to post something outside of their little box of mods. See what happens. I am trying to help them, but watch them ban me.

Really, I just wish we could all forget about this crap. I usually try to stay out of this because I hate forum politics.
This is the best resource for Yaris-related information--period. It's a shame that all this nonsense has to take place. If we could simply stay on Yaris-related topics instead of this drama, I think it'd benefit everyone here.
Secondly, plain and simple, if you don't want to follow forum rules, then go somewhere else. If you aren't the one paying the bills, then you aren't the one making the rules--whether you believe it's fair or not.
With that being said, can we just get over the hack, rebuild this place, and continue to make this the best Yaris forum possible?

I agree. You could cut the politics with a knife around here and the moderation is borderline "ridiculous." For example....my opinions and comments are being edited/removed by Chino Charles in the NOS thread in Performance Modifications. This...because "he himself" does not like what I have to say. I guess that if you have an opinion, don't beat around the bush, or align with the politics then....well, the moderation takes over.
Really, I mean....what's the point of a forum if you can't call it how you see it in a reasonable and adult fashion. Just because a few comments ruffle one's panties doesn't mean that their point/essence is null and void. Let the forum decide. Well...why do that when you are the "Moderator?" Because....at that level....one is the forum, no? Ridiculous and childish...

Actually, I haven't deleted a single post of yours. If you're going to spout off about me, at least have your facts straight. That was done by one of the other mods, and some others reported your posts too. It was handled as we would handle anything.
There are politics on every forum. I would hope the hours of time and effort and all the money and crap I've invested into this site would afford me more respect than to get chastised any time one of my posts shows ignorance on my part. I don't claim to be an expert on anything either. I'm just like anyone else. I want to learn, and your posts were making it hard for the thread to stay on track.
Of course, we try and afford the same level of respect to all of our members, and if that wasn't my thread I promise you I would have deleted your posts personally. We are a relatively strict mod crew now, but that is because that is how our members wanted us to be. If you're in the minority that doesn't, Hi. I was too, but the people spoke and we generally try to listen.
The right thing to do on your part would have been to ignore my thread. It was obvious from the get go that you and I don't agree one iota about the subject, so why post? You're going to repeatedly post about how dangerous and dumb nitrous is in a thread that is supposed to be about how to use nitrous?

Charles,
With all do respect....why waste your time learning about nitrous? First off, it's clear that you are clueless in regards to its usage. This is no big deal....you should remain clueless because nitrous can do nothing good for you. It will only degrade and harm your motor and never serve any "positive" purpose. My entire point by entering the thread was to get you to think about what you are embarking on. Think about it....you are talking about introducing NOS into a friggin Yaris (100 HP commuter car). Charles...just think about what you are saying! Do you really want to invest your time into learning all there is to know about NOS when you yourself commented that you'd likely probably never even use it? Why bother then? Seriously....???? The bottom line with NOS is it's totally ridiculous for a street car that you want to last. If you tear down a motor every year and rebuild, well - maybe not so much of a big deal. So common man...be honest with yourself - aren't there so many other areas to put your energy?

save NOS for the racecars....that's who should use it. There is a LOT to learn about NOS and how to use it and it's not just about NOS itself...it's the system as a whole and there are so many scientific variables. NOS is affected by IAT, humidity etc., it's affect on air density, flow rates, reversion etc. There are so many variables and even then there is no guarantee that the thing will go off right. Yes, to each his own but that doesn't mean that I can't have an opinion on it, does it? Or wait....apparently it does.

not very productive to go into his pro-nitrous thread and tell him he's stupid for using nitrous on a commuter car. pretty sure the point of the thread is to inform people about how to hook up nitrous and set it up properly, etc. you slaggin him for thinking about it just sh!tting on his thread so you can look cool in front of all the other yarisworld.com people. if youre THAT concerned about people using nitrous on a DD, maybe make your own thread informing them of the downsides, rather than starting an argument in an otherwise beneficial thread.

Trying to look cool in front of yarisworld people? Common man....that's not even remotely close to my intentions. This is a cyberworld.....looking cool??? I have been cool my whole life in "real life." It would be useless to make a thread stating all the downsides....the list is absolutely and completely endless on a daily driven street car like the Yaris. How about you start a thread stating the "positives" involved in setting up and using Nitrous? I would love to see that. No hard feelings though....I mean, the guy can do whatever he wants but based on the info he provided and his intentions (coupled with prior experience), there have to be a shitload of people who can see my point and just have ignored the thread. Perhaps that's what I should have done seeing that the thread would be heavily moderated and that fine b/c I don't pay the bills. I mean.....what a boring forum if you can't have discussion and opinions shared, even if you consider it me shitting on his thread. So...I could go back and forth forever but will chose to leave this thread alone along with the NOS thread.
