So, sometime before the hack I posted about problems with my Rostra cruise control cutting out whenever my <automatic> transmission downshifted on slight grades...

Well, I was cleaning out the garage today and I found the original receipt and installation instructions.

The receipt shows I ordered the kit for the auto transmission, but the installation instructions are for part #250-1797, general applicability: manual transmission... F@#$!!!

So, now I understand why it cuts out.. It's been nearly 2 years since the purchase was made, and I did the install myself... Anyone out there have any suggestions on how to modify the unit to act properly with the auto transmission? Or am I just fucked...

Solution: send me that one and buy a new one.

Contact the people who sold it to you and throw a fit until they send you a FREE auto kit. I will personally call posing as you and do the bitching if I can have that manual kit.

Ah, ever the opportunist.

Well, I just called them and they will be open tomorrow morning 8:30am eastern. Additionally, I dug thru my gmail and found the original order confirmation, it also states I should have received part #250-1796 for the auto transmission, not the *7 unit...

Hope it all works out to your benefit, even after two years.

you can always just request the part that is wrong in exchange for the one you have, they might agree to that better that sending you the whole thing...

Maybe they just sent you the wrong instructions?
If you installed the wire that connects to the transmission linkage (on top of the tranny), then you have the correct kit. I believe that the manual tranny kit doesn't have that wire.

I would try to get them to agree to remove and replace the unit at their expense by the Toyota dealer.
