I have never use jacks/ramps to do an oil and filter change on the Yaris.

My car is too low to get under there without a jack. Otherwise, I wouldn't need to use one.

wtf
My yaris has stock suspension and I can't even start to get under there.

But hey, if you fit, go for it. I know I would.

Well I don't think many people would "fit" under there. I lay down on the ground next to the car (you may be able to get your head under the car) and reach for the drain plug and oil filter.

No dealing with jacks/ramps and it is safer.

I avoid the jack all together and just use my horn. I tap it gently and the dealership opens the bay door.

Yes......even as I write this I KNOW I'm being a winky stick but...I...just...can't...help myself. Seriously though, kudos to all you DIYs who save a buck and gain a sense of pride. Cheers.

My car is lowerd so cant really fit under there. But i park it on my driveway so its already slightly angled. THen put the jack under the lift point on the passanger side front. Brings the front end enough to fit under there easily.

use homemade wooden ramps . 2" (h) x 12"(w) x 36" long with one end cut at an angle ( to drive up ) and a 2 pieces ( stopper ) of 2"x2"x12" , which 1 is nailed / screwed to each end of ramp to stop car from going over the edge . Make sure it's not split or too many knots for strength . Would think pressure treated be best to endure weight .

I've done an oil change w/o ramps or a jack a couple times and did a filter swap topside with the hood raised. THE reason I bought this car was long term cost of ownership. The ease of working on it is a huge benefit, too.

Trivial - you get an oil pan no higher than about seven or eight centimeters. You buy a wrench for the bolt (I think it's a 17mm but am not certain) and an oil filter socket.

I routinely do my oil in the street without a lift. One of the reasons I bought this car was for this reason.

I dont use jacks or ramps.. I am 6 foot 200lb and i can get it done.

i can almost do it on my knees and just reach under with a socket wrench.. when the bolt is loose take the wrench out slide the pan under and take the bolt out with your fingers.

A Fumoto oil sump drain valve makes it a lot simpler.

A Fumoto oil sump drain valve makes it a lot simpler.

You have the valve? Did you need to put anything around the threads? Waiting for my next oil change to put it on.

I use ramps. Between the front lip and lowering springs I need the clearance to work the wrench and have room for catch pan. Plus while up on the ramps the oil pan is tilted back toward the drain for a quicker, more thorough dump.

Kin to the YARIS . could just use use layer of 2" ( H ) x 10" (or 12") (W) x 36" ( L ) . Be easier for car to climb and oil pan be angled . Better yet , use 1 board of 1 level under 1 or both wheels on drivers side . That way pan be sloped for better drainage . Hope I'm not confusing  you to much .

My pan has a maximum height of 4.5". You have to loosen the drain bolt with a wrench, then remove it with your left hand, while using your right hand to maneuver the pan under the bolt.

I have DF210's and can do it w/o any problem. No ramps...no boards. I have the fujitomo valve installed but it's not necessary in any way. Just handy to have a ball valve drain system. No tools needed to do an oil change. Hand tight filter and ball valve drain.

i just changed mine 15 mins ago and i didnt use a jack and i am 6'5" and round 240. i just twist filter loose stick pan under and pull bolt out and let it run. its simple takes longer to let oil drain than to actually get bolt and filter out.

Ice cream bucket and a 2x4 under each front wheel works fine with my 1.5" drop in the springs.

A 2"x4" under each front wheel sounds a bit dangerous  . You starting a new X-treme sport  ? 1 under each tire on drivers side might be less dangerous , plus help oil drain better since the oil pan is sloped toward the passenger side ( right ) . Hope you use bricks , rock , piece of scrap wood , or a gold bar behind each wheel .

I use store bought ramps. It's safe and easy to drain and change filter. They go on sale for about $14.00.

Yes, and no. Buy the correct one and its a direct fit. The lever might not be oriented exactly how you like it but when I want to drop my oil I'll just rack my steering all the way to the right side and my hand can easily reach in the gap to get the valve.

This looks really cool.

I imagine all Yaris' would use the same size, which size did you get?

Here they make you take it to the dealers for an oil change, although I wish I could do it myself. Have no hand on experience with cars, whatsoever.

EDIT: and they charged me 22$

I've thrown my packaging away but based on Fumoto's chart, F-103 would be it. But I would email them to make sure, though.

The yaris oc is simple,as everything is right up front.
15 mm socket is the only tool required.

Thanks, that matches up with what I found too, wanted to make sure though.

I do. I jack the driver side a little just to squeeze my big head underneath of it even though its not completely safe.
