Just got finished installing the Cusco Type 1, that Jay@C2AUTOSPL hooked me up with.

Combined with the Tanbe DF210's, the lower bar made a small, but noticeable difference. The car feels much more controlled in hard cornering (i.e. highway entrance & off ramps), and the car just stays very "flat", compared to the body roll of a stock Yaris in a hard corner.

For such an inexpensive suspension upgrade, that actually can be felt, its well worth the money.

Here's a quick 15 minute How-To, as all the directions were not in a language I could understand.

Tools needed:
Floor Jack
Block of wood
Ramps
3/4" box wrench
Hammer
Gloves
Creeper

I found it easiest to drive the car up on a set of ramps. This way the suspension was also kept even across the front, unlike if it was jacked up to do each side.

Quick pic of tools used. Its next to impossible to get a 3/4" socket and rachet on the bolts, so a box wrench and a little persuasion with a hammer worked perfect for loosening and tightening.

Cusco Type 1 with its packaging.

FIRST STEP loosen both driver & passenger side bolts...

THEN get your floor jack and block of wood. Position it right in the middle, and jack it up!
You need to do this in order to REMOVE the driver side bolt. Passenger side of bar is slotted, so that just needs to be loosened, NOT removed.
Slip the bar in, and SUNG up the bolts..

With bolts snug, REMOVE jack, then tighten up bolts, and you're all finished! :drinking:

If you haven't noticed, the Mods and Admins have been MIA on this site.

I have asked many time's to make my Spring Install and Disable DRL's a sticky, with NO luck! Maybe other members should try contacting them.

Got ya. I started the retailer parts supplier thread in exterior/interior but would like to see that at the top of all the modifications forums, since one of the biggest questions on every car forum is "Where can I get that?" right along with "How do I install/do that?" So I do agree, your write ups should be at the top of the forum as a sticky. I just thought you didn't know you were over in the DIY section. Maybe we need to petition to get what we want here.

*EDIT* BTW, your new sig pic is sweet! Definetly going to do a HID conversion when it arrives, makes it look more like a Lexus than an economy car.

very nice writeup, i actually did the same mod on my gf's civic hatch this weekend. very easy to do and does create a more stable feeling. cusco will not be receiving more of these for at least a month since they have no containers shipments scheduled for August. you guys will need to wait unfortunately. if anyone wants to preorder them that would be the best way to secure one. once i get their packing list towards the end of the month i'll update everyone.

you never cease to impress, Chris07LB.

As far as the sticky's go, YarisBueller has got a lot of organizing to do and he might just be waiting until everything smooths out. For instance, once YarisWorld get a bit more input from common car drivers (non-tuners) when the car become more easily obtained, we will have TONS of new pictures, comments, ideas. At that point, the "Post pictures of your Yaris" thread should be restarted with only ONE POST PER PERSON. It's ended up that the 20+- Yarii that have been posted are spread over MANY MANY pages. it would probably only be 2 pages if everyone only posted once.

but, the reality of Message Boards is that they are NEAR impossible to organize effectively, and when you do you usually end up p1ssing someone off :P

After information spreads and most "common questions" have been answered, we will also be able to have a pretty good THREAD on "Frequently Asked Questions"...that would be the shit. But, again, message boards are INHERENTLY messy.

To be honest, we might have to sticky about half your posts, chris
You've done a lot to take the guesswork out of Yaris DIY's, probably helping sales by the sponsors of the board

Thanks for the kind words buddy.

I enjoy doing these How-To's, and hopefully they become helpful for many Yaris owners. Just my part in "giving back." :drinking:

Hey guys....just wondering...since i never modded my car before...this is my first experience...

Hmm...do i need both or can i install both Type 1 and Type Lower Tie bars? Not sure if the mounting spots overlap for both...and if there is any benefit installing both of them...

My mechanic is installing my Tanabe Strut tower bar tomorrow!!

there is no benefit from installing both. if you are thinking of max stiffness, just go with the type 2
