No, the car pictured belongs to a member from the Netherlands. It's got the 1.8 engine too!
Mabye it only comes if you get the bigger engine to protect the hood paint?

benefits?
Quieter under hard accel, keeps engine heat from cooking paint on hood, and hides the ugly underside "skeleton" of the hood frame.
Just a nice clean, complete look....
But is that heat going to go displace and cook paint somewhere else?

In Netherlands all versions have this.
It's to reduce the noise inside the car.

Look here http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1167

I'm pretty sure those things are standard on the sedans in the US. I remember seeing one when I test-drove the sedan. Maybe you just can't find it in the US catalog because you are looking under hatch parts?

I have a hatch and it IS in the US catalog.
I just ordered one yesterday too.

it used to be that those under hood blankets were standard on all cars. Not because they kept the engine warm and toasty or dissapated heat from cooking the paint on the hood, though because they were held in with plastic clips that were designed to melt away in the event of a fire in the engine bay so the blanket made of fire suppressive material could smother the fire.

Seems like I paid less than $60.00 and about $1 for each clip...count the holes to see how many you need.

I have 2 Sedans and they both came with one already installed. I guess Toyota thought the LB's didnt need one(just like a TACH)

Even with insulation installed the dealer was having trouble getting rid of them, compared to the LBs
I did look at a Scion XD, not the Yaris sedan, that's how I knew the LB was missing one.

Thats probably because most people dont know what they are for or that they are even missing theirs.

Guess the salesman should have educated the Yaris buyers about its benefits then, and showing them that the sedan had one but the LB didn't.
