well the further out the wheel is, you can gain some stability in high speed turns, but you'll really only feel the difference on the racetrack (that's one reason why many race cars use wide bodies)

no engine preformance, just handling

I went from +43 front +30 rear to +18 front +5 rear..... and I noticed a HUGE difference even durring everyday cornering. But you can't run that low of an offset on the Yaris

Sure... if you want the wheels/tyres poking way out past the fender lips.

With 17's, I wouldn't run any lower than ET42 with 205 rubber.

Same for 16's, unless you run 195's with ET38-40.

well, you can have the offsets that high and have minimal rubbing. but, technically on 16s, you can run from 30-25mm to make it as flush as possible and have rubbing, but not TOO crazy. but it matters size of rims, how much drop, and size of tires.

and dont forget that on the yaris the wheels need a "staggered" offset to get the "flushed look"

also depends upon the width of the wheel & if you stretch tires or not

thanks for the reply guys!..can i put 195 tires on a 16's rims with 7in width on the rims or is it better to use 205 series tires?

Offset does affect handling because a wider track reduces the roll angle which improves stability. Read (http://books.google.com/books?id=rY2ujnNrhf0C&pg=PA14&lpg=PA14) It doesn't come without a price, however. Every hub and bearing assembly is engineered to work with a specific wheel offset, so if you vary too much from the design offset, you risk wearing wheel bearing prematurely or possibly even overstressing the hubs.

Stick within 5mm or so of stock offset and you have nothing to worry about.
