hey all, I'm curious about something I noticed in the fleet of sedans we have at my job.....

How much do you all use your dash cupholders?

because I'm starting to notice that the year old sedans with close to 20,000 or more miles ( bare with me as rental cars age/mature faster than normal cars)
this condition might be equivalent if your dash is in direct sunlight all the time or similar

already have a condition where: when you close either driver front or passenger front door the cupholder pops open...or if you tap moderately one to two times on the side panel next to the cupholder it will pop open

anyone with this concern yet?

what're you doing about it?

I would assume the dealer would call it wear/tear unless you're really good at
convincing them to replace it under either customer satisfaction/warranty

LET ME KNOW!

all the time , not for drinks tho , ash trays :smoking: . They do rattle when left out . So , we push the ones not in use in to stop the noise .

I've left it open all this time so I wouldn't know if it has that condition that you are talking about...

I use mine when I have a drink with me. Overall I dislike the design of them but mine havent failed yet.

i think the placement is a MAJOR design flaw. the cup holders are for one, not deep enough. and two, directly in front of the air vents! if i have a drink sitting in it, its gonna be either melted or unwantedly warm.

no wear on mine yet, i tend to just not hold drinks there...

I love the design, for those cold morning drives to work. It holds a large Timmies cup perfect and with the air vent behind it helps keep the drink hot longer !

What about colder days when you want a cold drink?

2 years and constant use no problems have developed yet with them.

I use the driver side one a lot. Most of the time, it's to hold stuff, such as garage openers, cell phones, etc. I will use it to hold drinks too, such as Rockstars, and drinks from Costco and McD's. I noticed that the passenger side one is not deep enough, and I've had a McD's large drink tip over (luckily spillage was minimal). The center console and the rear arm rest one are sometimes utilized by my friends when we carpool. Center console one is great, but the rear arm rest one is a bit too wide & long to actually "grasp" drinks. I also installed two additional cup holders via a "JDM" cubby and cup holder unit (thanks Sabretooth). I don't use those cup holders much. hehe. Just cool to have.

As for the holders being in front of the vents, if I want my drink to stay cold, I'll open the vent, and if not, I'll just close it. So I don't really have that big of a rant for it.

I don't know about other people, but I hate hot air blowing in my face no matter how cold it is. When the heat is on, I usually have the bi-level glass and floor vent setting on or one or the other alone. So the drink is unaffected and plus the vent closes. What's the problem?

I find this cup holder to be a very good cup holding design in that it fit's every size and shape cup (even square drink containers).

My car's got 45K on it and the holder shows no wear or problems yet.

Yep as others said, I just close the vent. I suppose if I had AC It could help chill my drinks in the summer, but I opted out of that option.

No problems. I just have to be aware of my driving when I have a very large cup in it. I like it since old cup holders would be right near my leg.
