Yaris Palme

1. Push the clutch pedal
2. Pull the handbrake (hold it)
3. Start engine
4. 2x foot break (at the second hold the break)
5. Handbrake: open - pull - open - pull
6. again 2x foot brake, but this time do NOT hold it)
Then should turn on the VSC and TRC lights.
i have a yaris TS with keylessGO... i don´t know how it is at the normal with key. and i also don´t know how it is at the automatic yaris.....
please just test it. at the automatic yaris i think you must not push the clutch pedal from #1 (hahahahah, because someone has stolen it)
to active the VSC and TRC just restart the engine.
and now. just :burnrubber:
sooo. i write it again, after it was deleted from the hack.

hahaha cool, nice way to hack the car
But I wonder.... outside of Europe and maybe Japan, I don't think any models have traction or stability control? I mean, some models don't even have ABS!

In my country is ABS obliged on each new car sold. If the car has not you get no license plate.

I hate that all these features are being mandated by governments. Like TPMS, I know how to check my own f'ing tire pressure... Make these things (ABS, TPMS, VSC, TC, etc.) options or at least disableable.

I think the whole Ford Explorer exploding tires/rollovers thing brought the TPMS thing about.
Just a guess.....

Great "trick"!
Works perfectly (European Yaris).
I also saw it once on some LEXUS forum (Polish) so probably it works for various TOYOTA / LEXUS vehicles.

Hi
In Denmark all Toyota Yaris have ABS and VSC/TRC.
I will try this on my car, itīs the one with push button start too.
Regards Steven.

Yaris in my region come only with ABS and Brake Assist.
TRC and VSC are not even optional.

that was a ford problem, not a tire manufacture problem ;) ford specced a too-low rated tire for the heavy ass SUV's

Yaris with VSC/TRC got factory rear disc brakes. No discs, no VSC/TRC.

AFAIK all grades of Yaris in Canada are:
Power Assisted, Front Discs, Rear Drums, Antilock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)...
My '07 doesn't have the ABS or EBD.

Wow, thank you for a great tip. I pulled the relay for the VSC and TRC but that also killed the ABS. This was really great. I have a Yaris 1,8TS from late 2008.
Best regards

I bought a second hand 2008 T3 Yaris and do not know whether it has VSC or not. Is there any way to figure it out? I can see the ABS light for a moment when I start the engine, so I know I've got that!
I mean other then trying to smoke the tires and seeing if any lights come out :p

find some dirt large enough to drive in a tight circle, cut the wheel tight
mat the accelerator
if your car controls the speed and allows you to navigate that circle
you have traction control. if you make a partial circle then start to spin
out, or if the engine can rev way up and keep the wheels spinning, you
do not have it

Thanks for the tip localhost.
I was hoping that there would be some sort of more physical indicator, i.e. a light/switch/sensor that can be spotted. As I said, I don't get a "car skidding sideways" light when I switch on the engine, so my gut feeling is that I don't have VSC. Besides, it was an option, and on a 1.0 engine, I don't think the previous owner would have felt that he needed traction control!
