Getting a new yaris, couple ?'s

Sup all, first off i'm suprised there are forums for these cars heh (this was going to be my gas saver car :biggrin:)

I've been pricing out a 09 black 2dr hatchback and saw the TRD 18inch 5 spoke rims/TRD lowering springs...

18 inch rims on a little car like that sounds painful (drive quality wise), i noticed a good amount of posts discussing rims, but here's my question.

I don't really understand how rims/springs work, sounds silly to you all i'm sure. I noticed a set of konig feather rims on these forums (17 inch, 8 spoke).

- Would i need springs with these or do the factory ones work?
- Springs + low weight tires = Good ?
- Anyone have some pics with these rims?
- Anything i'm not thinking of in regards to buying this car (rim/spring wise)?

You can do 18s on the car with a mild drop like TRD and a few other springs too.

Try to get rims that are not heavy as it does effect milage quite a bit.My 17s with tires are 4lbs heaver tahn stock and best milage I got was 32mpg out of a tank.Many here get 35+

Strut upgrades are needed sooner once you drop,but it all depends on how car is driven.

As for rougher ride,mine feels just as good with 205 17 45 tires as it does withthe stock tires and wheels.

I'm not quite sure what struts do, forgive my ignornance could you explain that a little.

18's will fit just fine, even if it's lowered.
Springs drop the car down, struts/shocks will stiffen up the ride a little more. I'm still driving on stock struts with df210 springs. It rides just fine.

If you are going for a "Gas Saver", I'd stay away from the 18"s. I've got 17" Enkei wheels on mine, and my MPG dropped from 38 to 31 average. I'd shoot for the stock 15" alloy if I was you. I'm currently researching some aftermarket 15" to try and get my MPG back up. The car will have alot more pep with smaller tires also. 18"s are just too big to turn over on a econobox. IMO.
