Don't have any links at the time since I'm at work, but I'll post them later.

Thin Lizzie --- Vagabonds of the Western World
Foghat --- Pretty much the whole line
Golden Earring --- Faded jeans

Thirty-Nine

Mountain -- best known for "Mississippi Queen," they had a lot of other really great songs that never got nearly the commercial success.

Ah seeing Jack Lambert brings to mind one of the best of the 70's right here from Pittsburgh: The Iron City Houserockers.
"Have A Good Time But Get Out Alive" is probably one of the greatest 'unknown' albums
of all time.

Another great almost-unknown: Big Star. Alex Chilton is probably better known as the
title of a Replacements song than for his own band!

I saw this on Youtube the other day... Steely Dan is one of those enigmatic "groups" which isn't really a group.

The making of "Peg" from the album "Aja".

Lots of hard work.

nothin' like music with humor , should be a slot for that like Alternative Rock , Progressive Rock . HUMOR ROCK . Such as STEELY DAN ( named after a womans toy  ) , ZAPPA ( the king ) , The TUBES , The KINKS , THE FOOLS , WARREN ZEVON , Jimmy Buffet , Joe Walsh , etc.. Even RICK DERRINGER has a sense of humor " Easy Action " , www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2vveeUlGBM , from " IF I WEREN'T SO ROMANTIC , I'D SHOOT YOU " . Great title and song  .

Dead Kennedys and Misfits are the late 70's in a nutshell

I didn't realize the Dead Kennedys went back that far!
"Holiday in Cambodia" is just one of those all-time great songs.

Uriah Heep's Salisbury album was always one of my obscure favorites, particularly the guitar solo in the song Salisbury
And the linked song "A time to Live"has a lot of personal nostalga.

Good Times - Chic

This has been considered one of the first commercial rap tunes. Aside some Cypress Hill and some Beastie Boys I cannot stand rap at all. Rap is not music.

Rapper's Delight, based on Good Times. There was a lawsuit over it too, as the string section cost a ton of money.

After listening to Rapper's Delight, I noticed that alot of verses in more recent songs are exactly like some in that one.

Every rap song out there now borrows from a previous rappers song. It's the only way to make a song sadly. No originality

any UFO followers ? NO HEAVY PETTING great album . The song " On With the Action " that applies to the rampant decline of society , www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6XcYa24PKQ , " A FOOL IN LOVE " , www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5DVtmg0w0k , and " HIGHWAY LADY " great song for the :burnrubber: , www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji00xWuTQCU . Then their release in '97 of WALK ON WATER , all tracks move yeh , such as" DARKER DAYS " for us aging geezers , this'll get the ol' blood flowin' and dislodge some arterial plaque  www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KtadOA0E_I and " A SELF MADE MAN " , www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXrZ0YWm0aU&feature=related , a dedication to WALLSTREET , the BIG CORPS , MR. GO :middlefinger: YOURSELF , and MADOFF . Very fitting with the bailouts . Then this one about a nasty divorce , www.youtube.com/watch?v=12lyf6Hxjgo . :headbang:
