MAP sensor wire just reaches.
Now, the instructions don't address this sensor with the blue connector coming off it.
I ended up TyWrapping it to the tube.
Thoughts?

Final install again from different vantage points.

Likes;
Looks almost "factory", very conservative appearance.
Does'nt really scream till over 5000RPM
Good quality parts and finish
Not annoyingly loud in the car at all with windows up.
Works well with my TRD exhaust...

Dislikes;
Instructions can be a bit vauge, pics are B/W and kinda dark.
Ended up with 2 extra bolts and 2 extra washers. Why??
What the hell are you supposed to do with that loose sensor?
5/8" hose gets attached to 1/2" elbow on intake tube, hose too wide.

Expect to take OVER an hour to do this and TAKE YOUR TIME!

This kit is well worth the $170. It's not rice or boy racer looking and everything seems to stay in place after a few trial drives tonight. Everything fits nice and there is good attention to details, EXCEPT that sensor thing...

This is a photo of the same intake installed in mine its the 1.3L version of the engine, but its the same anyhow. Mine was just straped on with the plastic tie to the intake hoseing. I saw one of your photos and you screwed in the bottom right part, i don't remember seeing my mechanic do that....i don't think there was a screw in bit on that right side. Haha.

You could remove the sensorand bracket , and twist the metal leg on it 90 deg, then losen the top 3" hose clip side it under and do hose clip up again.

The Spare bolt (M6X30mm and 2 washers are used if you did not remove the orginal airbox mounting bracket,
theres a hole in the bottom of the AFE box that lines up with the bracket .
That's if you did not remove it ,when you removed original airbox .

The Toyota dealer must have removed that bracket when they originally installed my TRD CAI. I was wondering why I had so much loose hardware leftover.

Hey, did you just screw that sensor bracket to the radiator filler cap tube base or did K&N supply a special part?

K&N kit has a special bracket. It sounds great with the Tanabe Medallion Touring Exhaust

I have this intake in my Yaris and I absolutely love the sound of it. There was a bad rattling soon after I installed it, however. It turned out to be the battery clamp that had wiggled loose. I couldn't tighten the intake down any further, so I put washers in between the tab on the intake and the battery tie-down. Just a heads up for anyone who hears a loud rattling when they start accelerating.

Does anyone have a check engine light with this intake?

If the check engine light goes on after putting a filter on, it most likely means you don't have the air sensor hooked up correctly. I would be really surprised if it was anything else. (my check engine light never came on in my corolla when I ran a "sock filter" for 2 months)

If you can't figure it out auto zone will let you use the computer diagnostic for the check engine light for free

The only time I got a CEL was when the filter got wet from the automatic car wash. The ScanGauge cleared the CEL nicely. I'll be sealing the hood gap in that area shortly.

Haven't heard my intake since the TRD exhaust went on. Nobody believes me that the sucker just booms inside the LB.

I had leftover hardware but this intake replaced the TRD CAI so I figured that some brackets were removed previously.

Do you guys think a CAI (AEM/TRD) will make my car louder if i currently already have the Medallion Touring? especially under normal driving?

The Tanabe is rated 93db not sure if the CAI will help the cause. I like it to be a bit louder... especially under normal driving.

Personally have that axleback with the afe intake and I love the sound. As for cruising like the freeway it is a little louder, but not annoying. After I installed it though I noticed it has a mean sound above 3k rpm at WOT. It sounds very sexy when it's revving and doesn't get annoying at all for normal cruising

Thanks for the reply... I'ma hold off on the CAI for now, the sound gain seems only nominal at low speed, not sure if it's worth the $200+ investment. If I come across an AEM/TRD CAI for cheap I'll reconsider

Lol, you could just make your own . Autozone sells the necessary hardware. IMO, the AFE CAI is adequate for normal street driving. Any more competitive, and you'd probably need something a bit more free-flowing. As for me, I'm perfectly happy with the symphony the AFE and my Fujitsubo Wagolis make together.

Yeah, right now I got the Tanabe and stock air box. It sounds great at high rpms but I need more sound at idle and around town cruising.

Earlier posters mention after getting their TRD exhaust they no longer hear the intake... I don't want that to happen to me specially after dropping 2+ bills. I'm also not expecting any performance gains... but I still want the AEM/TRD cuz it's got blingish tendencies :bellyroll:

^ yeah, I was a little disappointed with how the Fujitsubo kinda drowned out the nice growl of the AFE. But then again, the Fujitsubo doesn't sound bad...and it doesn't completely drown out the intake. The TRD CAI does look nice, I must admit. I'll try one of those out and compare it to a Fujita (since I see almost no one has talked about that one).
