by "trim" do you mean the lip around the cover? And are these the covers you have?

Paint the entire cover white (mask off the toyota symbol as to not paint it) paint with a 3/4" black lip. Paint the center chrome yota black. Make sure to sand and prep before painting

i think im going to avoid the lip simply because i dont need my wheels looking any smaller then they already do...
decision made and i will be back with my first pics in a long time up laterrr

im really excited for it, i think that the contrast will look nice, and the reason i went with the black was so that it would blend with the ugly steel wheels better

As much as hubcaps suck. if you are poor right now I say just paint them matte black.
I will give you some more idea of the hub cap I tried before.

First off, you wanna use very smooth sandpaper. Something that's 600 grit or smoother works great. Then grab a spray can and hold it about a foot away while spraying in a sweeping one side to the other motion to get an even coat. After it dries, you can block off certain areas with masking tape and paper to fill-in different-colored details with a paintbrush. Let that dry, then take off all masking. Voila!

yeah i put a clear coat on afterwords just for protections sake
