Just got back, and the ticker says 500.4 miles. That's with 2 tanks of gas.

The first tank was full the day I bought her which was July 22. I've only had to gas her up once myself.

How do I average this out? I'm sure it's simple, but I'm no math wiz.
By mpg, or overall. I'm confused. :iono:

I go to the gas station tomorrow to fill her up. This will be gas station trip #2.

6800 miles here :)

Fill your tank
Reset the miles
Fill your tank again when the last bar starts flashing (about 9.5 gallons used)

Then do your trip miles you drove divided by the ammount of fuel when you filled it the second time.

300 miles / 10 gallons = 30 MPG
500 miles / 20 gallons or so = 25 MPG

You can tell how much gas you used by how much you can squeze in when the pump starts stopping you, or you could just buy a scangauge like i did =D

The more you drive it tho the more MPG you get. It kidna sucks when you first get it.

only 250miles/tank??
hmm... i just got mine the other day, only used 1/4 tank, but already have 140miles on it (it only had 12 miles when i drove it off the lot).

seems too good to be true.

Like most cars I've had, the Yaris guage moves much more slowly in the top half than the bottom half. If you start watching how many miles you get per bar on the gauge, you'll see that you get way more on the top bars, but as you go down, each bar gets fewer miles.

I frequently get 250 miles or more on the first half tank, but NEVER have come close to getting that out of the last half. (That would be 50 mpg!)

Like I said, I filled her up completely yesterday morning, just got back home 10 minutes ago... She averaged out to 49.2 for the first gallon of gasoline. That rocks! I was like please get to 50, but just short of. We shall see if she gets this type of mileage or not throughout.

Late!

That's why the ONLY true way to measure MPG is to refill at the same gas pump everytime, and to check your mileage for the whole tank. The last 2 tanks for me have received 30 mpg...and I'm ACCURATE within 1 mpg!! I'm afraid some people on here don't know how to ACCURATELY check mileage, or they just don't want to believe they're getting worse than they would like to believe... i can "see" some of you" watching the gas pump numbers and "encouraging" it to stop early....no offense but it's human nature..

Yea you have to go a full tank to get a nice average. The auto shut off on the pump might vary a bit so a full tank it might only vary like 1 or 2 mpg.

BTW this is what i kinda think the fuel gauge works like with playing with the scangauge. What is it, 9 bars or something.

======= <---2.0
======= <---1.5
======= <---1.5
======= <---1.5
======= <---1.0
======= <---0.75
======= <---0.75
======= <---0.5
======= <---1.5

The last couple of bars mean shit really besides the last one that blinks.
At first i was like, OMG, 1/2 tank, 250 miles drove, i'm goin 500 miles on 10 gallons, NOT.

BTW on my drive home from goin out i averaged 46 mpg with about 8 or so full stops and a couple of slowdowns over 30 miles. Speeds 45-65.

I agree. I was just filling up last week and started to think about that. How I thought I got more KMs outta my first 1/2 of my tank (esp the first 2 bars) than I did outta the second half.

Interesting to see that thought reinforced and support here by another. Thanks for mentioning it.
